The MAP Measurement Insights and Data Strategy (MINDS) team is part of the Sams Club Member & Insights Center of Excellence org that is dedicated to supporting the retail media MAP business unit. It iscomprisedof two key workstreams - Performance Measurement & Insights team and Media Science & Experimentation team. MAP MINDS plays a critical role in MAPs accelerated growth by bringing the power of 1st party deterministic membership data and advanced data science and innovative measurement approaches together to offer trusted data and insights to MAP advertisers and MAP internal teams.
What youll do...
What will you do
Business Measurement & Reporting:
- Collaborate with leaders in Sales and other inter-dependent teams to design develop and propose automation and AI solutions for reporting and measurement needs.
- Own and develop scaled reporting solutions for Sales team needs.
- Manage reporting collateral including dashboards tofacilitateteams understanding of business health and goal achievement levels.
Strategy Planning:
- Address ambiguous strategic questions facing the business and collaborate with leaders acrossMAPto build business cases for new business initiatives.
- Ensure smooth execution of these initiatives across diverse cross-functional partners.
- Develop a profound understanding ofMAPsbusiness and how our different ads products media channels and sales investments align with our broader strategy.
- Develop various input and output metrics we will use to evaluate our progress which will serve as the backbone of ourMAP MINDSreporting process. This role will alsoleveragestrong datascienceskills to develop reporting deliverables create adhoc analyses on business results and sales performance provide insights used to help business planningdevelopand deploy ML modelsanddriveprocess improvement.
Special Projects and In-Depth Analysis:
- Build quick automaton tools to drive quick data synthesis
Work with product on robust data analytical asks
- Act as the primary point of contact for Sales offering insights into metric movements and trends andprovidingdata-driven insights.
- Support decision-making by specifying requirements for developing analytic capabilities platforms pipelines and metrics and thenusethem to analyze trends andidentifyroot causes.
- Lead and conduct ad hoc analyses ranging from creating new metrics toidentifyingthe root causes of revenue fluctuations.
- Operate independently as the go-to analytics expert for day-to-day business needs.
- This role requires strong stakeholder management comfort with ambiguity attention to detail and the ability tooperatein a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment. As a staff data scientist you will uphold high technical standards deliver consistently and lead by example.
Whatyoullbring
- 5 years of experience in data science analytics or statistical analysis
- Strong executive presence and communication skills with the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences
- Advanced SQL skills for complex data extraction and analysis
- Design build andmaintainhigh-quality dashboards and visualizations using Superset and other BI tools as needed.
- Experience partnering with data scientists engineers and product managers to design train test and deploy ML models
- Ability to translate ambiguous business problems into clear analytical and ML roadmaps
- Experience conducting offline evaluations and A/B testingcausalityand communicating results to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience mentoring junior data scientists and acting as a technical leader
- Strong ability to gather business requirements propose solutions evaluate feasibility and assess ROI
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a cross-functional environment
- Familiarity with sales processes and tools (e.g. Salesforcequotaand territory analytics)
What are the qualifications
- Havea MS/PhD in relevant technical degree (preferably Computer Science Machine Learning Operations Research Applied Mathematics Statistics Engineering etc.) with5 years of relevant work experience.
- Strong prior experience in retail media and digital / in-store advertising
- Strong knowledge of Python SQLPySparkTableauMachine Learning Libraries Big Data processing systems in cloudenvironmentis expected.
- Experience working cross-functionally product and technical teams
- Experience with large data sets and analytical tools e.g. Spark
- Sound knowledge ofAd tech and prior Retail Media working knowledge is
- A track recordof building ML models or delivering impactful customer-facing products as tech lead and mentoring early-career data scientists.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and thrive in an environment with rapid change

San Bruno California US-08848: The annual salary range for this position is $143000.00 - $286000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location).
