Assistant Resident Engineer

Job Summary
STV is seeking an Assistant Resident Engineer with 10 years of experience to join our Water Division as part of our Construction Management team supporting a NYCDEP infrastructure project in New York City.
This is an opportunity to support critical water and wastewater infrastructure projects while working alongside a highly experienced team delivering complex municipal programs across the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Resident Engineer (RE) and Construction Manager (CM) in the day-to-day oversight of construction activities on a major NYCDEP project.
- Assist in managing inspection staff and ensuring timely and accurate daily reporting in accordance with client requirements.
- Serve as a liaison between contractors design teams and client stakeholders.
- Review and respond to RFIs submittals and shop drawings.
- Maintain project documentation including correspondence reports and contract records.
- Assist in reviewing construction plans specifications and change orders for constructability and compliance.
- Support the preparation and facilitation of project meetings including progress safety and coordination meetings.
- Monitor contractor performance related to safety schedule quality and overall responsiveness.
- Assist in reviewing and processing contractor payment applications in coordination with project controls.
- Support project closeout activities and ensure all documentation is complete and compliant.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Civil Mechanical or Environmental Engineering Construction Management or related field.
- 10 years of experience in construction management with prior experience as an Assistant Resident Engineer or Senior Inspector on municipal infrastructure projects.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required; PE license preferred or ability to obtain.
- Experience with NYCDEP NYCDDC or similar agencies strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction documentation contract administration and field coordination.
- Strong geotechnical background and experience.
- Strong concrete placement background and experience.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York.
- Experience supporting NYCDEP and/or NYCDDC construction projects.
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with clients contractors and other team members.
- Interest in supporting business development and proposal efforts.
Compensation Range:
