RAINN DevOps Engineer Internship Overview:

The DevOps Engineer Intern will gain hands-on experience supporting cloud infrastructure system reliability and deployment processes while working alongside RAINNs Technology Team. This internship provides an opportunity to contribute to the systems that power RAINNs mission-driven services including platforms that support survivors of sexual violence.

Working under close supervision the intern will be introduced to DevOps principles and practices in a collaborative mission-focused environment.

This internship is well-suited for students or early career professionals pursuing degrees in computer science information technology systems engineering or related fields. It offers the opportunity to build foundational DevOps skills while contributing to meaningful real-world systems.

Term Options:

• Summer: June August
• Fall: September November

Each term is approximately 12 weeks with flexible start and end dates to accommodate academic schedules.

Application reviews will begin 30 days after the posting date and continue until the internship is filled or 30 applications have been received whichever comes first.

Internship Learning Objectives & Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the DevOps Engineer the DevOps Engineer Intern will:

• Learn to assist with maintaining and supporting cloud-based infrastructure (primarily AWS) within approved environments.
• Learn to support CI/CD pipeline processes including building testing and deployment workflows.
• Learn to assist with system monitoring logging and alerting to ensure performance and reliability.
• Learn how to help automate routine operational tasks using scripts and infrastructure-as-code tools (as appropriate).
• Participate in troubleshooting system issues and documenting resolutions.
• Collaborate with team members on system improvements performance optimization and reliability efforts.
• Learn and apply best practices related to security scalability and system maintenance.
• Learn to contribute to technical documentation including system configurations and standard operating procedures.
• Participate in team meetings stand-ups and knowledge-sharing sessions.

Eligibility & Expectations:

• Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree program in Computer Science Information Technology Systems Engineering or a related field.

• Available to dedicate approximately 1520 hours per week.

• Must reside within the Continental USA and have a reliable home office setup with high-speed internet.

• Basic familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS) Linux/Unix environments and scripting languages.

• Interest in DevOps practices including automation CI/CD and infrastructure management.

• Must demonstrate a commitment to RAINNs mission and values.

• Must complete and pass a criminal background check administered by RAINN.

Additional Notes:

• This role will be scoped to approved systems and environments to ensure compliance; no access to restricted or clearance-required systems will be provided.
