With the hiring of a new Executive Team the launch of a new strategic plan the completion of construction at the Calle Ocho Campus and its fifteen-year anniversary in 2026 Mundo Verde is at an inflection point in its development as an organization. Position Overview: The Assistant Principal (AP) of Student Success is a specialized leadership role focused on the academic and social-emotional achievement of diverse learners at a single campus. Working under the supervision of the Principal and in partnership with the Senior Director of Student Success you will lead the campus-based specialized instructional teams to ensure every studentregardless of background or abilityhas equitable access to high-quality instruction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instructional Leadership & Team Oversight
- Instructional Leadership: Serve as a member of the Instructional Leadership Team (ILT). In collaboration with the principal and other members of the ILT articulate a clear instructional vision with a schoolwide focus on teaching and learning that is data-driven standards-aligned and rooted in a belief that all students can achieve at high levels.
- Team Oversight: As designated by the principal serve as the primary evaluator of the special education teachers intervention and ESOL teachers Dedicated Aides IEP Case Managers and Related Service Providers (RSPs). Guide and coach these teams to ensure high-impact coordinated service delivery.
- Professional Learning: Plan for and facilitate a professional learning community (PLC) of special education teachers and service providers including individualized coaching/feedback cycles with 35 identified teachers at a time to improve classroom practice and student outcomes.
- Extended School Year (ESY): In collaboration with Senior Director of Student Success identify needs for students and staff related to ESY; oversee program implementation
- Collaborative Systems & Compliance
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with other members of the Instructional Leadership Team (ILT) to integrate specialized services into the core curriculum.
- Change Management: Manage the change process with the principal including making tough decisions when necessary to move the school and students forward. Engage school community members effectively to ensure all stakeholders are included in school improvement efforts.
- Professional Development: In collaboration with the Principal and Senior Director of Student Success design build and facilitate professional development for administrators and staff on topics including IDEA compliance ESOL strategies and the schools continuum of services.
- Compliance Alignment: Ensure all student services meet federal and state mandates with support from the Senior Director of Student collaboration with the principal serve as the primary LEA Representative Designee at IEP meetings.
- Section 504 Leadership: In collaboration with the Principal and with support from the Senior Director of Student Success oversee the process for 504 eligibility annual review and dissemination of updated 504 plans to all relevant stakeholders.
- Data-Driven Achievement
- Data Monitoring: Focus on evidence-based growth and results to drive the school towards annual and long-term goals. Regularly analyze student performance data to identify gaps and monitor the progress of sub-groups (SPED ML). Select data sets for grade level teams to analyze and respond to as a part of team data cycles.
- Data Team Member: Support data team with the creation of the annual Data and Assessment Timeline.
- Quality IEP Progress Monitoring: Ensure data is collected and reviewed regularly for IEP goals and that progress reports are created and shared with families regularly
- Compliance and Policy
- Serve as Accommodations Point of Contact for statewide standardized assessments (ACCESS CAPE etc.)
- Along with the Senior Director of Student Success serve as a special education point of contact for OSSE and attend periodic meetings and trainings.
- Assist the Senior Director of Student Success with the development of policies and procedures that will be implemented at the campus level.
- Conduct trainings on compliance and policy requirements and ensure Mundo Verde meets its legal obligations under IDEA and Section 504.
- Participate in special education and 504 meetings as the schools representative and work with the Compliance Coordinator to ensure paperwork is completed in a timely manner
- Family Engagement
- Communicate with families in a culturally responsive respectful manner honoring them as partners.
- Model positive respectful behavior with students staff and families at all times.
- Collaborate with teachers administration and behavior specialists to respond to student behaviors and engage in restorative conversations to repair harms as warranted.
- School Wide Support
- Engage in constant personal learning including the need to learn and adapt when faced with challenges and successes.
- Expected to attend (when relevant) and support pre-planned evening events throughout the year such as student celebrations of learning home visits etc. as needed
- Expected to attend family events such as orientation prospective parent info sessions family potlucks etc.Meet regularly with supervisor to evaluate progress growth and performance using Mundo Verdes evaluation process
- Support school safety by assisting with student arrival and dismissal procedures
- Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of teaching experience and 2-3 years of school leadership or equivalent experience preferred
- Proven track record of improving outcomes for diverse learners and experience as an instructional leader.
- Deep understanding of ESOL instructional strategies and the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process.
- Advanced or native proficiency in English and Spanish preferred
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to coach manage and collaborate with adults from a diverse range of perspectives and backgrounds
- Strong data analysis skills
- Ability to build strong relationships with staff students families and the community
- Belief that all students regardless of background have the ability to reach high levels of achievement
- Education: Masters degree in Educational Leadership Special Education or related field.

Terms of Employment:
- Schedule: Full-time 8 hour workday
- Location: Cook Campus (30 P St NW WDC) or Calle Ocho (4401 8th St NE WDC)
- Supervision: This position does not have any direct reports
- Position Type: This is a full-time 12-month exempt salaried positionwhich is exempt and therefore not eligible for overtime pay under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act
