Program Description:Goddard Riverside invests in people & strengthens community serving more than20000 peoplethroughout New York City with a variety of programs for all work within a social justice framework to create a fair and just society where all peoplehave the opportunity tomake choices that lead to better lives for themselves and their families.

The Monument provides transitional housingtosingle adults experiencing homelessness with the goal of permanent -site services include case management entitlementassistance meals recreation and 24 hours/7 days aweekfront desk security and staffing.

Position Summary:ThePortersmainobjectiveis to provide building maintenance and safetytothe officestaffand residents. Conducting daily routine cleaning of all interior and exterior grounds. The porters will report directly to the Superintendent ensuring the building is up to code.

Schedule:Monday-Friday (10pm-6am)

Salary Range:$39000-$43000

Candidates must have the required qualifications to be considered for the position. The salaryoffer will be basedonthe candidates number of years experience in the exact orcomparableposition and additional preferred qualifications will be taken into account.



Qualifications

Roles Responsibilities and Essential Duties

  • Followadaily checklist of tasks each shift to ensurethecleanliness of the buildingthatincludesbut not limited to:

  • Sanitize and deep cleanhigh-touchareas at a high frequency

  • Cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms

  • Collectbuilding garbage and recyclingbringbinsto the sidewalk on designated daysand times

  • Sweep mopand clean up the cafeteria after every meal

  • Sweepand mopthe lobby area

  • Ensure the front of the building is clean and presentable free of debris and garbage

  • Shovel and apply salt during seasonal days

  • Help tomaintainthe building free of pests and vermin

  • Alert Super to inventory needs and when the building is running low on cleaning supplies

  • Work collaboratively with building staff toassistresidents and ensure continuous deep cleaning and sanitation of the building with special attention to thehigh-touchareas such as light switches door handles countertops handrails elevator buttons faucet handles etc.

  • Turnover of rooms: clean and prepare units after a residents discharge to ensure it is ready for the next occupant.

  • Assist Super with light repairs as needed

  • Update andmaintaincleaning log

  • Keep storage areas clean and free of litter and clutter

  • Other tasks/projects as assigned.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience in custodial cleaning workisrequired commercial property cleaning experienceisa plus

  • Must undergo funder required background check

  • High School Diploma/GEDrequired

Skills Knowledgeand Abilities

  • Ability to read and writeinEnglish bilingual in Spanish a plus

  • Work as a teamcooperative can-do attitude

  • Provide a friendly atmosphere with residents of the facility with the utmost respectforboundaries

  • Ability to track inventory and place orders

  • Ability to make basic repairs (preferred)

  • Basic computer skills (email excel spreadsheets)

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing bendingliftingto 50lbs

  • Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the shift (aside from breaks)

Work Environment

  • Residential building 110 unitsand 7 floors
