Position Summary: The Coordinator for Fitness and Recreation provides oversight for the operation of Younts Fitness Center Intramural Sports and Recreation initiatives at NGU. This position is a 12-month full-time with benefits position housed in Campus Ministries and Student Engagement (CMSE) reports directly to the AVP for Student Life and is required to live on campus. This position plays a key role in helping develop transformational leaders for church and society specifically by providing a diverse number of ways for students to live a healthy and joy-filled life with one another. This position is expected to live in accordance with a Christian code of conduct and to take a Christian discipleship orientated approach to fulfilling the responsibility of their role. This position assists the AVP of Student Life with the daily operations of the Campus Life area and manages a team of Graduate Assistants to complete the responsibilities of this role. This position must be able to work with a wide range of individuals (students faculty staff) seek excellence in the planning and communication process and maintain meaningful discipleship-oriented relationships with students within the student population.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages the operation of Younts Fitness Center.
- Plans and lead a robust Intramural Sports program for students along with faculty and staff that may desire to participate.
- Manages Campus Recreation Initiatives and facilities (Disc golf course Game room Trails and Student Life Rentals).
- Oversees adventure recreation (i.e. hikes bouldering tubing etc.) events for the student body.
- Assists the AVP of Student Life in developing methods plans and events that achieve the goals of CMSE.
- Assists in the management and training of the departmental paraprofessional staff (GAs scholarship undergraduate students and work-study students).
- Models a commitment to the vision and core values of NGU and is expected to invest heavily in the lives of the paraprofessional staff.
- Verifies the efficiency and effectiveness of the services provided in Younts Fitness Center and Intramural Sports.
- Regularly works with the Student Life team to maintain the campus calendar of events and to communicate upcoming events.
- Supports events that take place after business hours.
- Completes short-term projects that are assigned by the AVP for Student Life.
Physical Requirements
- Visual Abilities: Read reports create presentations and use a computer system.
- Hearing: Hear well enough to communicate with co-workers vendors and students.
- Dexterity Grasping Feeling Write type and use the telephone copier and computer systems.
- Mobility: Open files and operate office machines; move between departments and attend meetings across campus. Visit all residential facilities on campus on a regular basis.
- Talking: Frequently convey detailed or important instructions and ideas accurately loudly or quickly.
- Lifting Pulling Pushing: Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Cognitive/Emotional: Ability to critically think and concentrate. Must be able to respond quickly to changes in conditions 75 to 100% of the time.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
This position is a full-time position in Campus Ministries and Student Engagement and reports directly to the AVP of Student Life. This position works closely with all other employees in the Campus Ministries and Student Engagement department and must be able to work with a wide range of individuals including students faculty and staff.
WORK SCHEDULE
The Office of Campus Ministries and Student Engagement is open Monday through Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Summer hours may vary. Office hours are subject to change as deemed necessary. Occasional work on Saturdays and evenings may be required.
TRAVEL
Some travel may be required; however all travel will be within regional proximity to the NGU Tigerville campus.

Qualifications- Professes evangelical Christian beliefs.

- Affirms an understanding of and willingness not to advocate contrary to the Universitys statement on Human Flourishing.
- Minimum of a bachelors degree.
- Masters Degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years prior applicable experiencepreferred.
- Ability to organize prioritize and problem solve with frequent interruptions.
- Computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Office 365; experience with database use preferred.
- Understand and comply with HIPAA and FERPA regulations.
- Integrates Biblical standards within all assigned responsibilities and approaches student engagement from a Christian ministerial approach.
- Ability to develop and maintain healthy relationships with students faculty and staff.
- Ability to think creatively improve current processes and develop new initiatives.
- Desires to live beyond the job description to better the NGU community through Christian service and discipleship.
