The Head Netball Coach at St Hildas School is responsible for the leadership development and oversight of all coaches and students within the schools netball program. Working closely with the Director of Sport this role provides strategic direction while ensuring a consistent high-quality coaching framework across all levels of participation and performance.

As a member of the Queensland Girls Secondary Schools Sports Association (QGSSSA) the leading sporting competition for secondary school girls in Queensland St Hildas competes within a highly regarded and competitive environment. The Head Netball Coach will lead training sessions and match-day coaching across school competitions preparing teams and coaches to perform at this level while fostering a positive inclusive and high-performing netball culture.

This role is central to mentoring and developing coaches ensuring consistency in program delivery and implementing structured periodised training frameworks. The Head Coach will oversee player development pathways monitor athlete progression and contribute to selection processes season planning and end-of-season reviews using performance data and technology to inform coaching decisions.

The position also requires clear and professional communication with students parents and staff alongside effective management of operational responsibilities such as reporting equipment coordination and record keeping while ensuring all activities align with health safety and child protection requirements.

About the Position

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Provide clear and consistent coaching expectations across the netball program
  • Lead and support coaches on game days with preparation strategy and feedback
  • Oversee the design and implementation of a structured periodised coaching program
  • Lead and coach training sessions and matches across school competitions
  • Co-coach developing junior teams on game days throughout the season
  • Develop and maintain a Netball Coaches Handbook outlining training and competition progression
  • Attract develop and mentor a high-quality team of coaches
  • Establish and oversee selection trial protocols including coordination and final team selections
  • Monitor player development and contribute to season planning and end-of-season reviews
  • Utilise performance analysis tools and technology to inform coaching decisions
  • Deliver a pre-season coaching in-service to align coaching practices and expectations
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with students parents and staff
  • Support program administration including reporting equipment coordination and record keeping
  • Ensure all coaching activities comply with health safety and child protection requirements
  • Be available for the QGSSSA pre-season competition season (competition days are Saturdays Term 3) and any required external competitions.

About You

  • Netball coaching accreditation (Netball Australia Development/Intermediate level or higher preferred)
  • Minimum of 3 years coaching experience across school club or representative pathways ideally with leadership responsibility
  • Demonstrated experience in leading mentoring and developing coaches
  • Proven ability to design and deliver structured periodised training programs for athletes of varying abilities
  • Experience in team trials selection processes and season planning
  • Strong understanding of athlete development wellbeing and age-appropriate training within a school sport context
  • Excellent leadership communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with students parents and staff
  • Ability to foster a positive inclusive and high-performing team culture
  • High level of organisation and attention to detail including reporting and program administration
  • Flexibility to work hours aligned with training schedules fixtures and competition commitments
  • High professional and ethical standards with a collaborative approach to contributing to the wider school community
