Founded in 1924 and located in Seattles Madison Valley neighborhood The Bush School is an independent school serving students from Kindergarten through Twelfth Grade. Summary of position:
The Assistant Director of Admissions supports the K-12 admissions program and reports to the Associate Director of Admissions and Financial Aid (9-12). The schools Associate Director of Admissions (9-12) supervises and sets priorities timelines and project deadlines for the Assistant Director of Admissions. The ideal candidate will have customer-service orientation attention to detail commitment to equity and inclusion and strong communication and interpersonal skills. The Bush School is seeking an admissions professional with initiative and drive to be a value added team member of a robust enrollment program.
While other duties may be assigned a qualified candidate will be able to manage the key responsibilities and tasks listed below:
Coordinate general event management for K-12 admissions and retention programs and events including parent tours student visits open houses assessment days divisional retention programming and new family welcome events (pre-event logistics volunteer coordination event setup registration general support and take down)
Coordinate all volunteers and ambassadors for admissions and retention programming and events including recruiting selecting and training of all volunteers and ambassadors
Support annual admissions plan that includes daily operations elevates community equity and inclusion and fosters a culture of teamwork collaboration and data-driven decision making
Support K-12 admissions outreach efforts including school visits fairs campus tours and interviews
Evaluate K-12 admissions applications and serve on admissions committees for all three school divisions
Maintain a thorough understanding of the admissions database to assist with reporting and data input and analysis
Experience and Professional Competencies:
Bachelors degree required
Experience working in admissions required with three or more years of independent school experience preferred
Experience working with and knowledge of databases (Blackbaud and Ravenna) email communication platforms (MailChimp and Microsoft Outlook) and Google Workspace (Docs Drive Sheets and more)
Strong commitment to community equity and inclusion required
Strong work ethic organization skills punctuality attention to detail and ability to multitask and manage deadlines
Experience working at a K-12 school preferred
Successful Candidates will:
Maintain a strong work ethic with high standards of professionalism organization accountability and confidentiality
Maintain a willingness to assume additional responsibilities as required
Demonstrate resourcefulness and sound judgment in decision-making
Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
Be proficient with student information systems and databases (Ravenna or other enrollment database) and have the interest and ability to learn new technology
Be willing to work some weekends and evenings
Additional Requirements:
Have a current Adult and Children CPR First Aid and AED Certification (or receive one soon after hire date)
Meet the schools standards when completing two separate background screenings
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods manage long days handle standard office and classroom materials and support body with core muscles
Occasional lifting or moving of items 10-25 pounds
Ability to use hands to handle small objects and to manage writing
