Job Summary
Job Title: Quality Engineer Mainframe (Banking Systems)
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Quality Engineer (QE) with strong mainframe expertise to support testing of critical banking systems. This role focuses on ensuring the quality and reliability of a large-scale high-availability mainframe application that powers core banking services.
The system operates 24/7 and supports essential channels such as online banking POS and ATM transactions. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in mainframe testing strong analytical skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced mission-critical environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Test Strategy & Planning
- Design develop and maintain comprehensive test strategies and test plans
- Define testing scope timelines and deliverables based on business and technical requirements
- Manage testing priorities and ensure timely execution
2. Test Execution & Quality Assurance
- Perform:
- Functional testing
- Integration testing
- Regression testing
- Performance testing on mainframe applications
- Functional testing
- Execute test cases and validate system behavior against requirements
- Ensure high-quality delivery for banking services and transaction systems
3. QA Leadership & Governance
- Lead QA activities for:
- Conversion projects
- Attestation processes
- Audit initiatives
- Conversion projects
- Contribute to quality governance and compliance requirements
4. Defect Management & Collaboration
- Identify document and track defects through resolution
- Collaborate closely with development and IT teams
- Communicate test results risks and quality metrics to stakeholders
5. Documentation & Reporting
- Create and maintain:
- Test cases
- Test plans
- Test artifacts and documentation
- Test cases
- Ensure traceability between requirements and testing outcomes
6. Production Support
- Provide occasional after-hours support for production testing (as needed)
Required Skills
- Strong experience in mainframe testing and quality engineering
- Hands-on expertise in:
- COBOL
- JCL
- IMS (DB / Online / Batch)
- DB2
- MQSeries (for testing purposes)
- COBOL

- Defect tracking and management
- Testing methodologies and QA best practices
- Test case design and execution
- Familiarity with Git and Endevor for version and artifact management
- Excellent communication and stakeholder interaction skills

Required Skills:
Experience (Years): 4-6 Essential Skills: Work with project teams throughout the organization to design implement and manage CDN infrastructure using Akamai to ensure high availability performance and scalability for customer facing applications and business processes. Handle multiple priorities and assignments with excellence and precision. Be a part of a 24/7/365 organization (some after hours support is expected as part of normal on-call rotation). Directly support line of business development teams provide guidance to them on implementation and changes for customer facing applications Develop and maintain security protocols and measures to protect CDN infrastructure from cyber threats. Monitor and analyze network performance identifying and resolving issues to optimize content delivery of critical applications. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate Akamai CDN solutions with existing systems and applications. Collaborate with information security teams to implement DDoS protection strategies and other security measures in the CDN. Provide technical support and guidance to clients and internal teams regarding CDN and security best practices. Work closely with vendor and professional service teams on delivery related activities and strategy. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field. OR similar work experience. Strong understanding of network protocols (HTTP/HTTPS DNS TCP/IP). Proven experience as a CDN Engineer or similar role with a strong focus on -depth knowledge of Content Delivery Network technologies including caching load balancing and content optimization. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and teamwork abilities. Experience supporting 24/7/365 customer facing applications at enterprise scale. Awareness and experience with cybersecurity tools and practices such as firewalls intrusion detection/prevention systems and encryption. Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g. Python Bash) a plus. Relevant certifications (e.g. CISSP CEH) are a plus but not required.
