You have been previously attached to the labour force for a minimum of 24 months
To be LMDA eligible individuals must meet one of the following:
Have a current Employment Insurance (EI) claim;
Have received benefits under the EI emergency response benefit within the previous 60 months;
Have had an EI claim that ended within the last 60 months;
Have been employed with gross insurable earnings of $2000 or higher annually in at least 5 of the last 10 years
Please note:Hours worked in a JCP position cannot be counted toward an EI claim.

ABOUT THE JOB
Summary
The Garden Engagement Intern will work with the Common Roots Urban Farm team and relevant partners to support community engagement activities gardenimprovementsand volunteer participation at the Woodside Common Roots Urban farm site on the grounds of the Nova Scotia Hospital. The position is designed to provide hands-on learning in community-based foodgrowing facilitation and public engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Assistwith garden activities including bed preparation seeding cultivation maintenance andharvests.
Engage with and support community gardeners volunteers and visitors helping to create a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Assistwith washing sorting and post-harvest preparation of produce and flowers for donation and distribution.
Support the planning and delivery of garden events workshops and educational programming.
Assist other EAC Food Team members with related tasks as needed to support farm operations.
WHAT YOU BRING
Interest in or knowledge of gardening local food systems and/or community-based work.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to complete assigned tasks.
Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
Comfortable with physical outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
Willingness to work some evening and weekend hours asrequired.
Strong oral and written communication skills; familiarity with social media and newsletter platforms is an asset.
Interest in environmental sustainability and the role of community networks in addressing environmental and social challenges.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Full-time;5-day 30hrwork week Monday Fridaywith some eveningsand weekendsrequired
Remuneration:$21/hr
Term: May-November 2026
10 Wellness days pro-rated
This position requires physicalwork ina variety of weather conditions
