Join a dedicated team providing compassionate top-notch care to residents in our long-term care homes as a Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse. As an RN/RPN in LTC you will develop individualized care plans supervise care staff and collaborate with physicians and families to ensure the highest quality of life for residents. What You Bring

Education:

  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives

Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) procedures appropriate for the area of service.
  • Ability to work as a member in an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to apply decision making and analytical skills.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Ability to role model conflict resolution strategies.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.

Your Day to Day:

  • Provides safe and respectful nursing care to assigned patients/residents in accordance with policies individualized care plans and care priorities.
  • Performs comprehensive assessments monitors for abnormal signs or lab results and collaborates with RN/RPN and interdisciplinary team for complex cases.
  • Communicates and implements physician orders including transcribing and processing them accurately.
  • Documents all care activities such as assessments treatments medication administration and discharge planning in manual or electronic records.
  • Prepares and assists with surgical/diagnostic procedures transfers and admissions ensuring coordination with physicians and care team members.
  • Administers medications (excluding IV) monitors effects and maintains communication with RN/RPN and team as needed.
  • Participates in education incident response orientation and care planning while promoting patient/family involvement and supporting discharge planning
