Job Summary

Millimans Seattle Health Practice is looking for an ASA with experience in health actuarial work with a focus on Value Based Payments (VBP) and government programs (Medicaid Medicare). The position requires creative actuarial capabilities good communication and interpersonal skills and organizational talents. A high degree of self-motivation and the ability to lead a team of dedicated consultants are also necessary for success. We provide extensive on-the-job training in consulting skills and advanced actuarial techniques.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Perform analysis of healthcare data
  • Interpret regulations
  • Build financial models
  • Write reports that explain technical concepts clearly to a non-technical audience
  • Manage projects through completion within an expected budget
  • Supervise actuarial students and less-experienced actuaries in the completion of technical aspects of actuarial projects

Employees will be expected to develop the ability to manage client relationships and successfully generate new business with both new and existing clients.

What Were Looking For

Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in mathematics statistics economics or a related field
  • ASA designation
  • 7 years of healthcare actuarial experience with at least four (4) years working in a consulting environment.
  • Minimum of four (4) years experience with VBP Medicaid and Medicare.
  • Minimum of two (2) years leading working in the Medicaid managed care environment or with state agencies managing Medicaid including delegating work to and mentoring junior staff.
  • Proficiency with Excel
  • Some knowledge of SAS SQL or R
  • Strong understanding of the US healthcare system
  • Demonstrable skills in presenting technical concepts to a non-technical audience in an understandable way

    • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment where client satisfaction is key

    Location

    This position is based out of the Milliman office in Seattle WA. but remote candidates anywhere in the US will be considered. The expected application deadline for this job is May 29 2026.

    Compensation

    The overall salary range for this role is $88800 - $208380. A combination of factors will be considered including but not limited to education relevant work experience qualifications skills certifications etc.

    For candidates residing in:

    • Alaska California Connecticut Illinois Maryland Massachusetts New Jersey Pennsylvania Virginia Washington or the District of Columbia:
      • $102120 - $184460 if overall experience is less than 10 years; and
      • $115460 - $208380 for experience greater than 10
    • All other states:
      • $88800 - $160400 if overall experience is less than 10 years; and
      • $100400 - $181200 for experience greater than 10
