Job Summary

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Architect to support the design planning and supervision of architectural components of water infrastructure projects.

The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience in designing and supervising public infrastructure facilities such as treatment plant buildings pump houses administrative blocks control rooms laboratories and related utility structures. Experience handling donor-funded NGO-sponsored or government infrastructure projects is highly desirable.

The role requires strong design coordination skills regulatory knowledge and the ability to integrate architectural elements with civil structural mechanical and electrical systems.


Key Responsibilities:

Architectural Design & Planning:

  • Develop architectural designs for water treatment plants pump stations reservoirs and related facilities.

  • Prepare concept designs detailed drawings layouts and specifications.

  • Ensure functionality durability and maintainability of infrastructure buildings.

  • Incorporate sustainability principles and cost-effective design solutions.


Technical Coordination:

  • Coordinate with Civil/Structural Mechanical and Electrical Engineers to ensure integrated project delivery.

  • Review and approve architectural drawings and contractor submissions.

  • Ensure compatibility of architectural elements with structural and electromechanical systems.


Construction Supervision:

  • Supervise construction of architectural components and finishing works.

  • Ensure adherence to approved drawings specifications and quality standards.

  • Conduct site inspections and verify compliance with building regulations.

  • Monitor material selection and workmanship quality.


Regulatory & Compliance Management:

  • Ensure compliance with Nigerian building codes and planning regulations.

  • Support environmental and donor safeguard requirements.

  • Participate in project meetings audits and technical reviews.


Documentation & Reporting:

  • Prepare architectural reports and as-built documentation.

  • Support procurement processes with design documentation.

  • Assist in preparation of project reports for management and funding agencies.



Requirements

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • BSc/MSc in Architecture.

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in architectural design and supervision of infrastructure or public works projects.

  • Experience in water treatment plants utility buildings or industrial facilities is required.

  • Experience handling donor-funded NGO-sponsored or government projects is highly desirable.


Professional Certification (Compulsory):

  • Registered with ARCON (Architects Registration Council of Nigeria) Mandatory.

  • Membership of NIA (Nigerian Institute of Architects) Mandatory.


Technical Competencies:

  • Proficiency in architectural design software (AutoCAD Revit SketchUp or similar).

  • Strong understanding of building codes and construction detailing.

  • Experience preparing working drawings and technical specifications.

  • Knowledge of sustainable and cost-efficient design principles.


Personal Attributes:

  • Strong design and visualization skills.

  • Good coordination and multidisciplinary collaboration ability.

  • Strong attention to detail and quality.

  • Excellent communication and reporting skills.

  • Willingness to travel for site supervision across Nigeria.



Other Requirements:

  • Willingness to relocate to project locations in Niger State or Plateau State as required.



Required Skills:

Qualifications & Requirements: Education & Experience: BSc/MSc in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in civil/structural engineering and project management. Proven track record managing reinforced concrete reservoir or water-retaining structure projects. Mandatory experience handling donor-funded NGO-sponsored or government infrastructure projects. Professional Certification (Compulsory): Registered with COREN (Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria) Mandatory. Active member of NSE (Nigerian Society of Engineers) Mandatory. PMP PRINCE2 or other project management certification is an added advantage. Technical Competencies: Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete design and construction. Proficiency in project management tools (MS Project Primavera). Familiarity with structural design software (ETABS SAFE AutoCAD). Solid understanding of Nigerian building regulations and international standards for water-retaining structures. Personal Attributes: Strong leadership and decision-making skills. Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation abilities. Detail-oriented with strong analytical capabilities. Results driven with the ability to manage multiple sites simultaneously. Willingness to travel extensively within Nigeria.
