Senior Field Guide
Job Summary
This is a senior guiding role responsible for delivering highquality game drives and bush walks mentoring junior guides and ensuring guests enjoy an engaging memorable safari experience.
The lodge borders Welgevonden Game Reserve one of South Africas most exclusive Big 5 wilderness areas. The Senior Guide will conduct regular game drives inside Welgevonden taking advantage of its low vehicle density excellent sightings and the striking Waterberg landscapes. The role may also include walks and naturebased activities on the lodges own plainsgame property with the possibility of future guided walks inside Welgevonden.
The ideal candidate has a strong charismatic presence and a warm confident manner. They should be charismatic engaging and able to keep guests entertained with insight humour and genuine personality creating relaxed and memorable experiences throughout the safari. Strong Waterberg knowledge is highly advantageous.
The Senior Guide must also be able to upsell additional game drives and activities host guests at dinner lead creative experiences (stargazing kids tracking sessions storytelling bush talks) and accompany guests on offsite activities with packed lunches and drinks.
Maintenance and basic mechanical skills are highly valued due to the remote environment.
Requirements

Clear criminal record
South African citizenship or valid work authorisation
Strong and reliable employment history (references will be verified)
Own transport. All candidates are required to present a transport plan during the interview should the candidate not be in possession of their own vehicle that can drive a dirt road.
Fluent in either Afrikaans Dutch or Flemish (nonnegotiable)
FGASA Field Guide Qualification (preferably Level 2)
CATHSSETA certificate
NDT Registration
Valid Drivers Licence
Valid PDP
Valid First Aid certification
Minimum 5 years experience guiding in a Big 5 reserve
Strong knowledge of Waterberg ecology flora and fauna (advantageous)
Maintenance and basic mechanical skills (strongly preferred)
NOTES: Without trails and own rifle R16 000. With trials and own rifle R18 000.

REMUNERATION / PACKAGE
Salary: R16 000 (without trails) or R18000 (with trails and preferably own firearm) per month DOE
Gratuities: Gratuities: Guides are the only staff permitted to receive and keep direct individual tips from guests and as such do not receive from the shared tip pool for all other lodge staff.
Lunch and dinner provided during rostered onduty period.
Accommodation: Private bedroom in senior staff quarters with own bathroom and kitchenette.
Utilities: Water and electricity included.
Uniform: Provided (excluding footwear).
Laundry: Selfservice laundry facilities available.
6 days off per calendar month.
May shift depending on operational needs.
15 days of annual leave per annum.
