Job Summary

Sebenzana APP is a specialist engineering and asset performance firm supporting owners and operators of high-value energy assets across Africa and internationally. Were looking for an experienced Senior Engineer to join our Specialised Services team a group of technical leaders dedicated to solving complex engineering challenges and delivering long-term asset value for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Development & Feasibility Studies

Lead feasibility and concept development studies for new and existing plants.
Conduct technical and financial analyses scenario modelling and cost estimation.
Develop user requirement and technical specifications for greenfield and brownfield projects.

2. Technical Leadership & Design Execution

Lead detailed design specification and commissioning activities.
Perform complex thermal engineering calculations modelling and analysis of high-pressure systems turbines and boilers.
Review and approve technical documentation ensuring alignment with codes and standards (ASME API etc.).
Perform Fitness for Service (FFS) and Remaining Life Assessments.
Perform structural Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
Perform Pipe-stress Analysis.
Deliver Owners Engineer and Lenders Engineer services for clients.
Conduct Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and lifetime assessments for asset optimisation.

3. Project Management

Manage projects through all stages from scope and planning to delivery and closeout.
Act as primary technical interface with clients ensuring quality cost and schedule compliance.
Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including the drawing office and external contractors.
Manage budgets project profitability and resource allocation.

4. Mentorship & Team Development

Mentor junior engineers and graduates supporting technical growth and professional registration.
Foster knowledge transfer and a culture of continuous improvement within the engineering team.
Serve as deputy to the Business Unit Lead when required.

5. Commercial & Business Support

Provide technical input into tenders and business development initiatives.
Identify and pursue opportunities to expand Sebenzanas engineering and performance services portfolio.
Uphold Sebenzanas values of integrity excellence and collaboration in all interactions.

Requirements

BEng / BSc in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Pr. Eng with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) advantageous
10 years in the power generation with proven project leadership experience.
Mechanical systems high-energy equipment design and analysis process optimisation and engineering standards (ASME API ISO)
High attention to detail strong analytical thinking proactive mindset excellent communication and mentoring ability

Required Skills:

Requirements: BEng or BSc Degree or equivalent in electrical / mechanical engineering Professionally registered engineer certification will be advantageous. > 15 years of rotating equipment industry experience with a track record in solving complex problems on various types of rotating equipment sets such as steam turbines gas turbines pumps compressors & reciprocating engines. Proven track record in effective problem-solving capability within the various industries through project references Extensive experience in rotor dynamics and vibrations. Experienced in rotating equipment design and engineering analysis (CAD FEA etc.) Proficiency in relevant software and tools for data analysis planning and reporting. MS Office / Project / Google Skills & Knowledge: Design Knowledge of design techniques tools and principals involved in production of precision technical plans blueprints drawings and models. Engineering and Technology Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles techniques procedures and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services. Mechanical Knowledge of machines and tools including their designs uses repair and maintenance. Administrative Knowledge of administrative and drawing office procedures and systems such as word processing managing files and records stenography and transcription designing forms and workplace terminology. Building and Construction Knowledge of materials methods and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses buildings or other structures such as highways and roads.
