This role:

We are looking for a Design Manager to come and join our growing team.

This will be someone who challenges what we do daily and thrives working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines helping us build for the future.

An idea of what youll be doing:

  • Lead and scale the design function aligning delivery with commercial programme and client priorities
  • Oversee development of concept scheme designs ensuring alignment with Sinewave requirements and strategy
  • Oversee the production of schematic diagrams from basic philosophy or engineers sketches.
  • Complete audits and input into quality assurance on new and existing facilities to ensure installations are in line with both the design intent and best practices.
  • Lead the design team in verification validation and certification of designs.
  • Own performance capability and development of the design team driving accountability and growth
  • Act as key stakeholder with commercial translating technical design into scope risk and value
  • Manage design registers and design submissions acting as reference/escalation point for queries from IDNO/DNO.
  • Manage design data and records in line with ISO requirements
  • Ensure proper engineering rigour on Designs for safety for LV-33KV projects
  • Drive continuous improvement of design governance processes and delivery efficiency

Requirements

Youll have a proven track record of:

  • Proficient in the use of Productivity and Collaboration Software such as Microsoft Office Microsoft Teams SharePoint etc. across multiple platforms such as smart phones tablets laptops etc.
  • Excellent communication including ability to adapt communication styles and outstanding listening skills with ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to use own initiative as well as work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Confident in working collaboratively as well as using own creativity and initiative to develop high standard designs.
  • Excellent attention to detail which can be maintained when working under pressure and within a fast-paced environment.
  • Confident in planning activities and managing the execution of associated designs.
  • Proactive approach to solving challenging design issues.
  • Able to accurately carry out volt drop cable calculations and earthing calculations as needed.
  • OEM / switchgear knowledge and understanding.

Youll be a successful Design Manager at Sinewave if youre

  • Hold a Bachelor Degree in electrical or construction engineering or have comparable demonstrable experience
  • Driving licence (maximum of 3 points)
  • Demonstrative experience in implementing design strategies.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing a small to medium design team.
  • Experience working with an DNO / IDNO
  • Experience of G81 requirements
  • Relevant BSEN/ISO technical standards for cables/earthing etc.
  • Comply with all company policies procedures and business ethics codes including the anti-bribery policy while adhering to the Environmental and Quality Management System in alignment with ISO standards and the requirements of the NERS accreditation.

Required Skills:

When you join you will go through our top-notch induction and onboarding process and have opportunities to develop further through our in house training academy. Youll have a proven track record of: Assessing potentially hazardous and dangerous situations taking appropriate action to ensure the safety of personnel other site operatives and the public. Undertaking site specific risk assessments and creating RAMS and competent in issuing and cancelling safety documents. Ensuring personnel and your wider team understand duties under safety documents. Carrying out network operations under instruction from the Network Control Engineer. Understanding the local network anomalies and ensuring correct phase rotation. Youll already have experience & qualifications in: Currently hold (or have held) authorisations up to 33kV including permit to work (accepting 11KV with extensive experience). CSCS (affiliated). The use of Productivity and Collaboration Software such as Microsoft Office Microsoft Teams SharePoint etc. across multiple platforms such as smart phones tablets laptops etc. Full UK driving license (Maximum of 3 points).
