We are urgently seeking a Clinical Nurse Manager 1 -Spinal Theatre (Full Time) for a hospital in Cork Ireland
Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Spinal Theatre ensuring safe effective and patient-centred perioperative care.
Provide clinical leadership and supervision to theatre nursing and support staff.
Ensure adherence to hospital policies infection prevention and control standards and national quality guidelines.
Oversee preparation and management of patients undergoing spinal procedures (e.g. spinal decompression fusion instrumentation).
Ensure correct handling availability and documentation of specialised spinal instrumentation implants and equipment.
Maintain strict surgical safety protocols including WHO surgical safety checklists and instrument counts.
Monitor patient positioning practices to prevent pressure injuries and nerve damage during complex spinal surgeries.
Support safe anaesthetic and post-operative transfer processes in collaboration with anaesthetics and recovery teams.
Participate in audit risk management and quality improvement initiatives within the theatre department.
Requirements
Registered with NMBI (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland).
Demonstrable commitment to Patient Safety and Quality standards.
Minimum of 3 years post-registration acute care nursing experience with essential experience in a Theatre setting.
Strong knowledge and clinical experience in Spinal surgery.
Excellent knowledge of contemporary nursing practice and clinical skills.
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
