Job Summary
The Collection Management Assistant assists with the addition of materials to the collections.

Environmental Conditions
Primarily works indoors seated at a desk using a computer. Travels among facilities. Provides own transportation and is reimbursed accordingly.
Essential Functions
- Processes books and materials for circulation including but not limited to applying covers and stickers stamping selected books and repackaging audio-visual materials.
- Continually updates documents related to job duties in the Collection Management SharePoint section.
- Prepares library materials to be shipped through UPS FedEx and other delivery methods.
- Processes interlibrary loan materials received from other libraries.
- Unpacks and verifies contents of shipments and inter-library loans; receives materials using the ILS.
- Assists with copy cataloging by identifying and transferring bibliographic records from Online Computer Library Center (OCLS) or other bibliographic utilities to The Librarys database; performs searches to avoid duplication of entries. Edits these records to reflect The Librarys cataloging standards.
- Assists with projects related to collection management.
- Assists with the maintenance of local authority files.
- Attends staff meetings and continuing education workshops.
- Lives by the Core Values.
- Performs other related duties.

The Collection Management Assistant is part-time (24 hours weekly) and will work in 6 hours shifts. The position is located at East Shore Area Library and is $13.50 per hour.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Education/Training: High school diploma or General Equivalency Development (GED) required.
Experience: Experience or training in searching library databases and using standard office software.
Required: Excellent customer service and communication skills ability to lift 25 lbs. unassisted to place materials on high and low shelves. Requires occasional independent transportation for travel to libraries programs and outreach locations.
