Where you come in:
As a Senior Staff Systems Design Engineer specializing in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and agentic AI platform offerings your role is pivotal in designing implementing and optimizing cloud-based systems that leverage the capabilities of the cloud to meet the organizations needs. We believe the best way to learn is teaching others so mentorship communication and knowledge sharing is a core part of this position. Your duties typically include:
1. Architecting Solutions: You will be responsible for designing robust and scalable architectures on GCP to support the organizations applications and services. This involves understanding business requirements; complex multi-cloud and facility networking and interconnects; evaluating cloud services across GCP Azure and AWS; and designing solutions that meet performance reliability and cost requirements.
2. Artificial Intelligence Platforms: You will lead efforts to provide agentic AI platform services to ensure Dexcom ITs ability to scale and meet evolving automation needs. Securing recommending and providing the underlying architectures and evolving best practices will give you an opportunity to have a long lasting impact using emerging technology.
3. Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Implementing Infrastructure as Code practices using tools like Terraform or Google Cloud Deployment Manager to automate the provisioning and management of resources across our cloud platforms.
4. Performance and Cost Optimization: Continuously monitoring and optimizing the performance of cloud systems to ensure optimal resource utilization scalability and reliability. This includes identifying bottlenecks and wasted resources tuning configurations and implementing best practices to improve system performance in a financially responsible manner.
5. Security and Compliance: Implementing security best practices and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards (e.g. HIPAA GDPR) in cloud environments. This involves configuring identity and access management network security encryption and auditing/logging solutions to protect data and resources.
6. Collaboration and Documentation: Collaborating with cross-functional teams including developers operations and security teams to ensure alignment on architecture decisions and implementation strategies. Documenting design decisions configurations and procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing and future troubleshooting.
7. Stay Updated: Keeping abreast of the latest developments and best practices in cloud computing especially related to GCP. This involves attending training sessions participating in forums and obtaining relevant certifications to enhance expertise in GCP services and technologies.
Overall as a Senior Staff Systems Design Engineer who specializes in GCP and agentic AI platforms your role is crucial in designing and maintaining reliable scalable and secure cloud-based systems that enable the organization to leverage the full potential of our cloud platforms.
What makes you successful:
Deep expertise in GCP and a familiarity with Azure and AWS.
Strong experience in GitOps/DevOps GitHub Github Runners Backstage/Roadie ArgoCD and Cloud Deploy.
Handson experience designing and operating enterprise AI platforms on GCP including Vertex AI Model Garden Agent Engine and ADK.
Strong understanding of agentic AI architectures (toolcalling orchestration memory RAG) with the ability to translate business / development needs into secure reusable scalable GenAI platform capabilities.
Expertise in K8S proficiency in VMs Cloud Run and Serverless technologies will ensure success.
Leadership level of experience with IaC with Terraform Cloud and Ansible.
Deep understanding of cloud networking technology including VPCs LBs firewalls etc.
Familiariy with data tech such as Big Query Snowflake MongoDB and Cloud SQL (MariaDB MSSQL).
Ability to provide technical leadership and work direction to junior staff including both project and operational activities.
Ability to serve as the primary technical point on contact on incidents impacting services the team provides.
Ability to assist the Sr. Mgr in packaging and structuring operational work for execution
Ability to assist the Sr. Mgr in developing technical processes operating procedures and metrics for services and technologies for which the team is responsible.

Experience and Education Requirements:
Typically requires a Bachelors degree in a technical discipline and a minimum of 13 years related experience or a Masters degree and 8 years equivalent industry experience or a PhD and 5 years of experience.
