Job Summary

The University of Washington Department of Rehabilitation Medicine invites applications for musculoskeletal physiatrists to join our Division of Sports & Spine. This will be a full-time appointments on the Clinical Practice Track and may be at the rank of Assistant Associate or Professor. Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described inUWs Faculty Code Section FTE may be negotiable. Start date anticipated by Fall 2026 but other dates may be considered.

The Sports & Spine Division in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine is a well-established group practice with 18 faculty members across several clinic locations. We provide the highest quality patient-centered care with each faculty member offering a unique contribution to the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation. The individual hired will be expected to provide excellent patient care in spine sports and/or general musculoskeletal (MSK) medicine.

The clinical environment is an outpatient practice embedded within an academic department. The emphasis will be on a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions with a focus on sports and spine medicine. Will be expected to perform procedures including but not limited to lumbar spinal injections.

This position practices in a collaborative and multidisciplinary academic environment. This work requires strong collaboration with treatment team members including the surgical spine team.

All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching research and addition to clinical work teaching scholarship and service are integral to all Clinical Practice positions.

The initial appointment period will be three years at a minimum with eligibility for renewal thereafter. Faculty on the Clinical Practice track hold multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June) meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Clinical Practice track appointments are not eligible for tenure. Only full-time positions (100% FTE) are eligible for H-1B and permanent residence sponsorship.

The base salary range for this position will be as follows: Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice $15000 - $20194 per month ($180000 - $247175 annually) Associate Professor of Clinical Practice $18700 - $24000 per month ($224400 - $293760 annually) or Professor of Clinical Practice $23500 - $26800 per month ($282000 - $328032 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Other compensation associated with this position will include semi-annual production-based incentive through UW Physicians (UWP) and may also include temporary salary increases or salary supplements related to professional sites of practice coverage (NTE TPSs) moving allowance or relocation incentive. Additional administrative responsibilities may be offered to a specific candidate with appropriate experience and qualifications which may result in an administrative supplement (ADS).

The successful candidate must have

  • an MD DO or foreign equivalent
  • hold or be eligible for full medical licensure in the state of Washington
  • Board certification in physical medicine and rehabilitation
  • successfully completed fellowship training in sports medicine or spine by appointment start date

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or foreign equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
