ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a working manager position - you will directly lead and develop the Operations department while staying hands-on with daily freight execution. You will serve as a key link between our people our customers our carriers and company leadership. ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Team Leadership & Development
- Directly supervise coach and develop operations personnel across multiple teams
- Conduct consistent 1:1s and team meetings; facilitate monthly operations all-hands
- Partner with team leads to execute SOPs and goals set by ADL leadership
- Support onboarding and training of new team members per ADLs training program
- Communicate daily priorities assignments and performance expectations clearly and consistently
Freight Operations
- Oversee day-to-day freight execution in compliance with company policy and applicable DOT/FMCSA regulations
- Handle multiple concurrent shipments; process spot requests and resolve discrepancies quickly
- Track and proactively communicate shipment status to customers
- Ensure all freight documentation is complete and approved prior to transportation
Carrier Management
- Identify vet and onboard qualified carriers for freight services
- Negotiate competitive contracts and pricing agreements that align with ADL objectives
- Maintain and grow a strong reliable carrier network across multiple lanes
Customer Service & Sales Alignment
- Respond to customer inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally
- Build long-term positive relationships with customers and carrier partners
- Coordinate with the Sales team to ensure customer requirements are met operationally
Systems & Performance
- Maintain data integrity in our TMS and ensure proper utilization of tracking software(s)
- Monitor KPIs across the operations team; identify gaps and drive improvements
- Report on operational performance to the Director of Operations on a regular basis
- Continuously identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce cost
Strategic Contribution
- Meet regularly with the Director of Operations to plan and execute company objectives
- Contribute to the development and refinement of operational SOPs
- Serve as a key decision-maker and escalation point for the Operations department
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years of experience in freight brokerage 3PL or transportation logistics
- 3 years in a supervisory team lead or management role
- Hands-on experience with a Transportation Management System (TMS)
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume fast-paced environment
- Strong knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations and freight brokerage compliance
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word Excel)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
