Action Against Hunger is currently implementing activities in West Pokot Mandera Isiolo Tana River Nairobi and Baringo counties. Action Against Hunger is looking to fill the position of internship for Electromechanical Engineer in Samburu County to support in the integration of Nutrition and WASH Project. Purpose: An Electromechanical engineer/technician intern is responsible for the design operation and maintenance of electromechanical systems used in water supply systems. This includes pumps motors control panels and automation systems that ensure reliable water distribution services in line with Kenyan regulatory standards. He/ She is responsible in supporting the inspection installation maintenance and repair of electrical and mechanical systems for water supply projects in counties of operations. This role often involves working closely with the county Borehole Rapid Response Team during repair trouble shooting of broken-down boreholes and ensuring compliance with safety standards. Engagement: Support the WASH team in the implementation of borehole rehabilitation activities with a focus on solar pumping systems. The intern will work under the supervision of the WASH Engineer and in close collaboration with the Borehole Rapid Response Team (BRRT) providing technical and operational support during installation maintenance and troubleshooting activities. The intern will support documentation monitoring and reporting of activities as well as contribute to ensuring quality and timely delivery of works. Delivery: The intern will support timely and quality delivery of borehole rehabilitation activities by assisting in solar system support documentation monitoring of works and maintaining records of functionality and repairs under supervision of the WASH Engineer and in collaboration with BRRT Essential Responsibilities Under the overall supervision of the Program Manager and WASH officer the intern will: In liaison with the supervisor and the County Borehole Rapid Response Team (BRRT) lead support installation testing commissioning and supervision of electromechanical equipment as directed. Assist in routine inspections servicing and preventive maintenance of pumps motors generators control panels valves and related systems in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and support documentation of activities. Support troubleshooting and basic fault identification during both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities under supervision. Participate and support the officer in the preparation and updating of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) risk assessments and emergency response plans for electromechanical systems. Work with the supervisor and BRRT team to support planning and scheduling of operation and maintenance activities and assist in maintaining related records. Support monitoring of system performance including observing energy use and identifying areas for improvement. Assist in maintaining inventory of critical spares tools and consumables and support tracking and reporting. Assist the officers contribute to routine monitoring activities and support field supervision visits. Support officers to Prepare monitoring summaries and assist in documenting lessons learned and best practices. |

Required Qualifications and Professional Experience
Recent diploma graduate in Mechanical Engineering (plant option) Electrical engineering mechatronics/electromechanical engineering
Prior volunteer or internship experience in Electromechanical systems solar /hybrid pumping system.
Required Skills & Competencies
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Must be a resident of Samburu County.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word Excel PowerPoint).
Good understanding of submersible pumps motors and electrical system
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Basic data analysis and report-writing skills.
Demonstrated integrity and commitment to humanitarian principles
Having a valid driving license of class A2 and A3 is an added advantage
Reporting and Supervision
The intern will report directly to WASH officer under the overall supervisor of the Program Manager
Payment Terms
Payments will be entitled to a daily rate of KES 1500/- subjected to statutory deductions as per legal requirements.
Contract Duration timeliness: Six (6) months

Personnel are required to comply with all organizational policies including safeguarding PSEA and risk management guidelines of Action Against Hunger. Any breach of confidentiality misconduct or negligence may result in disciplinary action including termination of the contract. Staff must act with integrity and ensure that their actions do not place beneficiaries communities or the organization at risk.
