Job Summary
Job Title: Civil and Structural Designer
Role Overview:
A Civil and Structural Designer is responsible for preparing detailed engineering drawings and designs for civil and structural projects. The role involves working closely with engineers and project teams to develop safe efficient and cost-effective structural solutions while ensuring compliance with project specifications industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed civil and structural drawings including plans sections and elevations
- Develop 2D and 3D models for structures such as buildings foundations and industrial facilities
- Interpret engineering designs calculations and specifications into accurate drawings
- Coordinate with civil/structural engineers to ensure design accuracy and feasibility
- Prepare reinforcement detailing steel structures and concrete layouts
- Modify and update drawings based on design changes and site requirements
- Ensure compliance with international standards and project specifications
- Perform quantity take-offs and assist in material estimation
- Conduct site visits when required to verify dimensions and design implementation
- Maintain proper documentation of drawings revisions and project records
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (MEP architectural etc.) for design integration
- Ensure timely delivery of drawings as per project schedules
Essential Qualifications:
- Diploma / Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of experience in civil and structural design/drafting
- Experience in oil & gas construction or infrastructure projects preferred
Skills Required:
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (mandatory)
- Knowledge of STAAD Pro / ETABS / Tekla / Revit is an added advantage
- Good understanding of structural detailing and drafting standards
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents
- Knowledge of international codes and standards (ACI BS Eurocode etc.)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good communication and coordination skills
- Time management and ability to meet deadlines
