Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of a physician Medical Director and/or Nurse Manager/Nurse Coordinator performs all tasks delegated to assist with delivery of care to patients within the Medical Dermatology and Dermatology Surgery Units.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reviews the daily schedule to ensure that all appropriate preparations are in place to facilitate efficient clinic flow. Anticipates changes and adjusts as needed according to variations in clinic operations.
Set-up treatment area for skin biopsies dermatologic surgery cosmetic procedures as needed.
Escorts patients from reception area into exam rooms prepares patients for physical exams surgical procedure and/or post-operative follow-up. Including: vital signs pressure bandage and EMR documentation.
Performs phlebotomy and specimen collection according to hospital policies.
Photographs patients with various skin conditions using a variety of photogenic procedures techniques and equipment.
Assists physicians with surgical procedures including Mohs surgery excisions and subsequent repairs while supporting and maintaining use of sterile technique.
Ensures exam/procedure rooms are cleaned and restocked with appropriate supplies daily.
Participates in quality assurance activities in the department with respect to patient care.
Participates in orientation and onboarding of new staff members.
Orders medical supplies and maintains appropriate inventories.
Participates in activities conducive to unit safety and operations.
Prepares instruments and surgical trays for processing by central sterilization processing department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant Program or equivalent.
TRAINING:
Certified medical assistant experience preferred; surgical experience preferred.

Experience
Direct MA experience or medical field work 1-2 years required

- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions conclusions or approaches to problems.
