We are looking for an experienced Payroll and Accounting Administrator that is interested in working for a fast-growing diversified private corporation at our headquarters in Bryan Texas. The Payroll and Accounting Administrator will play an integral part in the processing of payroll the closing process and completion of detailed analysis projects. The ideal candidate has a team mentality can perform complex accounting activities and can expertly utilize technology to analyze large quantities of data with superior attention to detail.
This position reports to the Controller.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Team Player- We have 10 smart hardworking positive people on our accounting team who work well together to accomplish goals. This role would be responsible for helping to continue to grow our team by:

- Identify areas for improvement and help to implement changes
Payroll ResponsibilitiesWe utilize NetSuite Time IPS and Ceridian to process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for multiple entities. You will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing and payment of payroll checks to all employees of The American Trade Group as well as related payments for taxes garnishments and other payroll deductions in compliance with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
- Possess accurate and up to date technical information concerning all payroll laws in a multi-state environment
- Compile & process payroll data from timeclock system and other sources to calculate team member pay for hours worked bonuses and commissions
- Prepare journal entries for payroll accrual
- Prepare journal entries for compensation transfers between companies
- Ensure that taxes benefits and deductions are accurately calculated
- Coordinate with Human Resources to process all approved personnel actions including wage changes benefit and deduction setup/termination partial payments back-pay and any other one-time payroll adjustments
- Exercise independent judgment and discretion
- Assist with the automation of reporting payroll data in conjunction with sales and manufacturing data
Accounting Responsibilities
- Perform bank reconciliations in a timely manner
- Reconcile all miscellaneous receivable and payroll related GL accounts
- Calculate and submit sales tax reports and payments for multiple states with Avalara
- Submit timely payments for all federal and state taxes
- Manage the HSA Bank
- Have the ability to become the 401k administrator
- Accrue bonus payments by department and prepare the associated journal entries
- Assist with audit requests
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications Education/Experience
- A degree in accounting is preferred.
- 3 years of recent experience processing payroll is required; Multi-state payroll processing experience is preferred.
- 3 years of recent accounting experience with GL responsibility required.
- CPP is preferred
Minimum Qualifications Skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team
- Experience with ERP accounting systems (NetSuite strongly preferred)
- Strong ability in Microsoft Excel is required including xlookup sumifs pivot tables etc.
- Superior analytical and computational skills are required
- Attention to detail ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with Tableau flow preparation is a bonus but certainly not required
