Job Summary
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Vice President and Chief Human Resource Officer (VP/CHRO) the Associate Director of Human Resources serves as a strategic collaborative partner and assumes executive responsibility for the daily operations of the Office of Human Resources in the absence of the VP/CHRO.
The position provides administrative leadership and oversight across key HR functions including talent acquisition talent management performance management organizational and professional development employee relations policy development classification compensation compliance and related areas.
This role is accountable for designing implementing and continuously improving scalable HR frameworks that promote equity ensure compliance mitigate risk support fiscal responsibility and enhance employee engagement recognition and service excellence across the institution.
This role ensures continuity of HR operations while strengthening overall team effectiveness. The Associate Director supports the VP/CHRO in providing strategic leadership for core HR functions that aligns HR strategies with both short- and long-term institutional goals. The Associate Director assists with leading the day-to-day functions of the Office of Human Resources with a focus on operational efficiency compliance and effective use of technology. The role also coordinates large-scale projects aimed at improving HR service delivery and effectiveness across the campus community.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- A bachelors degree in human resources business administration public administration or a related field.
- At least three (3) years of progressive management/leadership experience in human resources.
- Prior experience in higher education is required.
- Experience with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and enterprise-wide resource planning system (ERP).
Preferred Qualifications:
- A masters degree preferred and at least five (5) years of progressive management/leadership experience in human resources.
- Experience with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and enterprise-wide resource planning system (ERP) preferred.
- Demonstrated success leading process improvement or service enhancement initiatives.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Strong knowledge of employment law performance management practices and employee relations.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of guidelines rules and regulations governing the administration and application of human resources operations.
- Knowledge of investigation techniques formulation of summaries and development of findings report; process and procedures for conducting job studies Title IX complaints and alleged violations and managing employee relations issues.
- Excellent analytical evaluative critical thinking problem solving and coaching skills
- Effective communication skills (oral and written).
- Ability to provide leadership and direction for the office.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects and activities.
- Ability to work independently with initiative and effectively and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills problem solving skills attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced higher education environment.
