Job Summary

SUMMARY

Northline Seafoods is a seafood processing company seeking an experienced and motivated Factory Maintenance Lead for a temporary role in Bristol Bay Alaska during the salmon processing season. This role offers significant opportunity for overtime and the chance to work alongside a strong collaborative team in a fast-paced environment!

This position is responsible for the safe efficient maintenance operation and installation of all barge-related equipment aboard a stationary floating processing facility near Dillingham AK during the seasonal fishery. The role operates in a high-intensity production-driven marine environment and plays a critical leadership role in ensuring equipment reliability and operational uptime.

This is a temporary role (approximately 70 days) based in Bristol Bay Alaska during the summer processing season - mid-June to mid-August.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Work collaboratively with electrical IT refrigeration and maintenance teams to ensure safe and efficient barge operations and maximize production uptime.
  • Under the direction of the Chief Engineer and in coordination with an opposite-shift Maintenance Lead and maintenance technicians perform predictive preventive and corrective maintenance on all barge systems including:
    • Power generation
    • Refrigeration systems
    • Electrical systems
    • Fuel systems
    • HVAC
    • Pneumatics and hydraulics
    • Pumps motors and controls
    • Reverse osmosis systems
    • Emergency and deck equipment
  • Fabricate install and repair equipment using cutting forming welding gluing and assembly of mild steel stainless steel aluminum and PVC.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety requirements including OSHA and U.S. Coast Guard regulations.
  • Lead the maintenance team with a strong focus on safety accountability and a zero-incident culture.
  • Maintain clean organized engine room and maintenance areas in a state of readiness for regulatory inspection at any time.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous supervisory or lead experience managing maintenance or technical teams preferred.
  • Experience working aboard a processing vessel barge or industrial marine environment strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of marine and industrial systems including:
    • Power generation
    • Refrigeration systems
    • Electrical systems
    • Fuel systems
    • HVAC
    • Pneumatics and hydraulics
    • Pumps motors and controls
    • Reverse osmosis systems
    • Emergency systems and deck equipment
  • Demonstrated experience in fabrication and welding (MIG TIG MMA) highly preferred.
  • Ability to train and enforce safety protocols including OSHA and Coast Guard compliance standards.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written with ability to coordinate across technical teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to work extended shifts (12 hours per day 7 days per week) during a 70 day seasonal deployment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

The Factory Maintenance Lead operates aboard a stationary floating processing facility anchored near Dillingham Alaska during the Bristol Bay salmon season. This role supports the safe and reliable operation of all mechanical electrical and processing systems through predictive preventive and corrective maintenance. The position requires work in an industrial marine environment including exposure to wet cold noisy and slippery conditions as well as heavy machinery and variable weather. During peak season employees must be prepared for extended workdays of up to 16 hours depending on operational needs. The role requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods climb ladders and stairs work in confined spaces and safely move throughout a marine processing facility. This position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
