Position: Construction Lab Technician
Compensation: $18$23/hour (DOE)
Location: Denver Colorado
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Schedule: Full-time; 40 hrs/week (schedule may vary)
What Youll Be Doing
Receive log and prepare construction material samples including soils aggregates and concrete
Perform standardized laboratory tests such as:
Moisture Content
Sieve and Gradation Analysis
Atterberg Limits
Proctor Compaction
Compressive Strength (Concrete)
Record accurate data and report findings to the Laboratory Manager
Maintain laboratory equipment tools and workspaces according to safety quality and accreditation standards
Assist with QA/QC documentation and basic report preparation
Follow established procedures and support team success
What You Have
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid drivers license with acceptable driving record
Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and perform physical tasks safely
Strong work ethic attention to detail and commitment to quality
Basic computer skills (Word Excel Outlook)
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Certifications & Requirements Colorado Focus
Required (or achievable soon after hire):
ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I or ACI Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician Grade I (recognized certifications for concrete testing)
WAQTC or CDOT materials technician qualifications for soil/aggregate testing or equivalent (Colorado recognizes WAQTC standards for technician qualification on transportation projects)
Preferred:
ACI Aggregate Testing Technician Level I or NICET/ACI certifications relevant to materials testing
WAQTC Embankment & Base and In-Place Density certification modules
Radiation Safety and Nuclear Gauge safety certification (for density/moisture testing)
What Will Make You Stand Out
Prior hands-on experience in a construction materials testing laboratory
Familiarity with ASTM AASHTO or CDOT test methods
Coursework in civil engineering construction management geology or related field
Strong communication and organizational skills
Work Environment
Laboratory-based role with occasional travel to local project sites
Safety-driven environment governed by internal quality standards and state transportation project requirements
