About This Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a Teaching-Focused Senior Lecturer to shape and elevate educational excellence through leadership at program discipline or broader institutional levels.

Key responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Teaching Leadership & Innovation: Lead programs curriculum design and course coordination across modalities driving continuous improvement in pedagogy assessment and student engagement through innovative technology-enhanced practices.

  • Influence & Collaboration: Shape teaching practices and assessment design across the discipline building strong internal and external partnerships to disseminate educational innovation and grow a reputation for teaching excellence.

  • Scholarship of Teaching & Learning: Lead and contribute to education-focused projects that advance evidence-informed practice foster intellectual independence and translate pedagogical insights into impactful curriculum outcomes.

  • Leadership Service & Culture: Mentor and develop staff contribute to governance and service and actively build partnerships with industry and community to enhance student opportunities while modelling UQ values and a positive high-performing culture.

The preferred Academic Category for this position is Teaching Focused. Appointment under the Academic Category of Clinical Academic may be considered in discussion with the preferred candidate.

About You

  • Medical qualification and eligibility for registration as a medical practitioner in Australia

    • A relevant specialist qualification recognised by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) is desired

  • Established record of teaching excellence and expertise at undergraduate honours and postgraduate levels across a variety of settings including small and large groups with course coordination responsibilities in the discipline.

  • National recognition for teaching impact in the discipline and/or National profile in education research in the discipline and/or National research profile with high-quality outputs in the discipline.

  • A record of successfully initiating and managing projects that improve curriculum pedagogy or assessment practices of others with funded projects being particularly desirable and/or A record of contributing sometimes leading successful applications for significant research funds.

  • Evidence of the involvement in the supervision of honours and Research Higher Degree students (where appropriate) to successful completion in education research and/or discipline research (where discipline is not education).

  • Experience in educational leadership at the program plan or equivalent levels with evidence of effective impact on the teaching and/or assessment practices of peers.

  • Evidence of leadership in curriculum development at the program and/or course level in the discipline area.

  • A record of meaningful internal service roles including the successful mentoring of less experienced staff in conjunction with evidence of leadership in external activities.

  • Well-developed communication interpersonal and consultative skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in teaching and learning.

  • A profile of professional expertise that complements and/or supplements the expertise that currently exists within the School and the broader University.

Appointment to this role is subject to the successful completion of relevant pre-employment checks which may include verification of the right to work in Australia qualifications professional registration (AHPRA) mandatory immunisations. This may also include checks relating to gender-based violence matters or other integrity and conduct requirements.

You must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply. Employer sponsored work rights are not available for this appointment.

In this role you will be responsible for teaching and supervising medical students within the hospital. Applicants must hold and maintain for the duration of this appointment a clinical position at the Mater or QCH to be considered for this opportunity.
