Job title: Senior Relationship Manager

Salary: up to 65k bonus

Location: Cardiff

Vargo is working alongside a well-known financial services business to recruit a Senior Relationship Manager for the investment team. The Senior Relationship Manager will be responsible for originating new commercial lending opportunities and managing the transaction through to completion. The role will be a combination of networking meeting clients to understand their specific requirements and working closely with internal teams.

The role will be a great opportunity for someone from an accountancy or corporate finance background looking for a fresh challenge or a commercial banker that has experience with lending. It will be rewarding and will present career development opportunities within the wider business.

Role overview:

• Source and evaluate investment opportunities particularly unsecured investments by thoroughly understanding underlying cash-flow assumptions and conducting detailed interrogation of company financials.
• Achieve investment and yield targets as well as specific fund targets set annually.
• Conduct comprehensive due diligence including management financial and commercial aspects for investment opportunities and assess associated risks. Confidently challenge financial information at the board level.
• Negotiate terms and conditions for legal documentation across various deal types providing assistance to colleagues.
• Prepare high-quality investment reports for credit sanction consistently maintaining a high standard.
• Collaborate closely with the portfolio team post-investment to maintain relationships with clients and facilitate additional investments opportunities.
• Operate within delegated authority limits and adhere to Investment Operational Guidelines (IOGs) serving as an expert in eligibility and IOGs and supporting team colleagues in this area.

Skills required:

• Extensive experience in risk assessment investment processes and analyzing financial information.
• Familiarity with the public sectors involvement in SME finance.
• Extensive experience in investing or lending to SMEs.
• Proficient in credit report preparation.
• Experience in Venture Capital/Equity/leveraged funding/transactional services.
• Driving license.
