Summer 2026 Environmental Engineering CoOp / Intern
Location: Kankakee IL Type: Full Time or Part Time Temporary Department: Plant Operations

WHEN YOU JOIN US YOU WILL BE;
- Gain an understanding of plant operations processes and equipment with a focus on environmental performance and compliance
- Support environmental and sustainability initiatives related to:
- Waste reduction
- Energy efficiency
- Environmental permits and reporting
- Pollution prevention and resource conservation
- Assist with projects involving both capital and noncapital environmental improvements working with internal teams contractors and consultants as needed
- Collect analyze and organize environmental and operational data to support compliance tracking and continuous improvement initiatives
- Support environmental documentation standard work instructions and process controls to sustain compliance and best practices
- Assist with job hazard analyses and identify environmental and safety risks in plant processes
- Participate in audits inspections and corrective action tracking related to environmental health and safety requirements
- Support the implementation of 5S and Lean Manufacturing practices with an environmental and sustainability lens
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE;
- Currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Environmental Engineering Environmental Science Chemical Engineering or a closely related field
- Strong analytical problemsolving and criticalthinking skills
- Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
- Willingness and ability to quickly learn and apply new concepts in a manufacturing environment
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work in crossfunctional teams
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents procedures and reports
- Familiarity with AutoCAD is a plus
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel Word PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Power BI or Python is a plus
- Interest in environmental compliance sustainability and industrial environmental systems
Work Authorizations and Travel:
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
