Package range: $111798 - $132585. Package includes salary ($98499 - $116813 per annum paid pro-rata) employers superannuation and annual leave loading. (Salary offered will be based on experience).

About the role
Were seeking an Aboriginal Cultural Arts teacher to join our team on a permanent part-time (0.5 FTE 17.5 hours per week) basis with travel to Correction Centres required.
This position is specifically targeted towards individuals with a deep understanding of Aboriginal Art and Culture. Proudly teach the rich history of Aboriginal Australia and cultural identity through the use of cultural arts practices and your own personal connection to Aboriginal culture and communities. The selected candidate will need to be open to travel in order to deliver custom programs within the confines of a correctional facility. These locations could be for example: Eora Campus and Long Bay Correctional Centre Nowra Campus and South Coast Correctional Centre Dubbo Campus and Wellington Correctional Centre or Bathurst Campus and Bathurst Correctional Centre etc.
The ideal candidate will work collaboratively uphold confidentiality embody TAFE values and communicate effectively and respectfully with both TAFE NSW and Corrective Services NSW staff and clients. Working with Corrective Services NSW clients is a very rewarding experience.
Successful applicants will be required to undertake Probity clearance to attain an Authority to Enter a Correctional Centre. This entails an application process involving:
- Pre-screening by Corrective Services NSW
- National Police Check (including Fingerprinting)
- Completion of an online Security Awareness course

Essential Requirements:
- Aboriginality (Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act of 1977). Candidates selected for an interview must provide Confirmation of Aboriginality documentation at or before interview.
- Have appropriate subject knowledge skills and vocational qualifications with a minimum level of Certificate II in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Arts or Certificate III in Music Performance or equivalent experience.
- Current arts practice and active participation in the Arts industry in the last three (3) years.
- Evidence of holding the appropriate teaching qualifications to deliver Vocational Education and Training (see the candidate support document (here) for details) OR a willingness to undertake our full time 14 week Paid to Learn course.
- Have a minimum of three (3) years post qualification experience relevant to your industry gained no longer than five (5) years previously.
Applicants for this position must be Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identify as being Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and be accepted in the community as such. An applicants race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14(d) of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act 1977. Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants will be required to provide Confirmation of Aboriginality documentation at or before interview.
Paid to Learn: for candidates who do not hold an appropriate VET teaching qualification or equivalent you have the option to be paid to learn as you transition from industry to teaching with guaranteed work following successful completion of the 14 weeks Training and Assessment course. Those who already hold the appropriate teaching qualification or equivalent are still eligible to apply.
Applicants for part-time positions should note that participation in the 14week PTL program requires full-time attendance of 35 hours per week throughout the 14 week program.
