Production Manager
Reporting to the Plant Manager the Production Manager is responsible for coordinating plant production and operational activities to ensure safety quality delivery productivity and cost goals are met. This role provides leadership to production personnel promotes a strong safety culture and drives continuous improvement while serving as a key interface between production internal teams and external customers. This is an operationally intensive role requiring strong floor presence multitasking ability and hands-on leadership to drive day-to-day manufacturing execution and team performance.
What Youll Be Doing
Production & Operations Management
- Coordinate day-to-day plant production and operational activities to meet business and customer demands.
- Organize and monitor jobs in a 100% custom shop environment to ensure timely execution and ship date adherence.
- Resolve production issues that arise throughout the manufacturing process.
- Collaborate with plant and office teams regarding shop drawings and operational requirements.
- Communicate production performance related to schedules headcount budgets and operating plans to management.
- Support plant cost initiatives and drive achievement of annual cost savings targets.
Leadership & Team Development
- Guide and advise Team Leads on company policies and employee-related matters.
- Work with Plant Manager to determine staffing requirements and support onboarding of new employees.
- Promote positive employee relations by engaging frequently with employees and addressing concerns.
- Provide employee training supervisor development and continuous skill improvement opportunities.
- Encourage participative management through meetings communication training recognition and delegation.
- Foster a collaborative and engaged team environment across operations.
Safety Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Lead and promote the Plant Safety Process while ensuring compliance with plant safety policies.
- Drive a safety-first culture and environmentally compliant work practices.
- Maintain product quality through plant systems management and Lean principles.
- Promote housekeeping excellence and lead GEMBA/5S initiatives to improve workplace organization and efficiency.
- Ensure operational focus remains on delivering products that meet customer quality expectations.

- Ability to spend significant time on the production floor (34 hours per day) driving engagement and improvement.
What Makes You Stand Out
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Strong ability to read and interpret drawings including shop drawings.
- CNC machining/programming experience.
- Experience developing new products in a manufacturing environment.
- First-line supervisory experience.
- Engineering degree technologist diploma or P. Eng designation preferred.
- Demonstrated experience leading GEMBA 5S and process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering preferred; Technologist Diploma or related technical field considered.
- Equivalent job experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Minimum 3 years of manufacturing experience.
- Minimum 2 years of direct production or plant leadership experience in North America.
- Basic knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.
