About the Role

As the Senior Team Leader Strategy & Governance you will play a central enabling role across the Conservation Planning and Assessment Branch supporting how the Branch sets direction governs its work and engages with stakeholders. Working closely with Branch leadership you will help bring together strategic planning governance performance engagement and policy considerations so that priorities are clear risks are actively managed and assurance mechanisms are in place and work is coordinated effectively.

The role provides seniorlevel leadership and advice on branch planning governance and assurance (including risk) budget oversight and policy coordination with a focus on improving quality and consistency in Branch-level policy advice. You will also provide leadership and direction to staff supporting strategy governance and administrative functions and act as a key point of connection across teams and with stakeholders helping to ensure consistent ways of working clear information flow and strong alignment with broader departmental priorities.

This role suits someone who enjoys working across boundaries bringing structure and clarity to complex environments and enabling others to deliver highquality outcomes.

About You

You are a strategic and pragmatic leader with experience working across governance performance engagement and policy in a complex public sector environment. You bring sound judgement an understanding of government systems and processes and the ability to support senior leaders with clear wellconsidered advice.

You are confident working across teams and with stakeholders balancing competing priorities and managing risk and budget considerations without losing sight of longerterm objectives. You lead with a collaborative inclusive style and are comfortable providing direction and support to staff helping teams align around shared priorities and work effectively together.

Your ability to think strategically build strong working relationships and create clarity in fastmoving environments will be key to your success in this role.

Key knowledge and experience

  • Demonstrated broad knowledge of government public administration and budgetary procedures processes and protocols.
  • Experience leading or coordinating strategic planning governance (including risk and assurance) and/or policy or organisational improvement activities in a complex environment.
  • Experience providing clear analysis and advice to support effective decisionmaking.
  • Experience developing and maintaining productive working relationships and guiding staff to deliver highquality outcomes.

Essential requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in either public policy public administration business governance law environmental policy or a related discipline and/or extensive equivalent professional experience.
