The School of Continuing Education one of the seven Faculties/Schools of the University and a major provider of continuing and professional education in Hong Kong offers a wide range of full-time and part-time programmes at the post-secondary undergraduate and postgraduate levels for young learners and working adults. It also offers in-house training and short courses to meet the community needs and market demands. Operated on a self-financed basis the School and its College of International Education currently employ about 400 full-time staff and 500 part-time instructors. The School is inviting applications for the following position:
Information Technology Manager (Campus and IT Services Management) (Ref. no.:)
Reporting to the Senior Information Technology Manager the appointee will be responsible for leading planning and managing IT services to ensure reliable secure and efficient support for academic administrative and operational activities. This role bridges technology facilities-related IT systems and service delivery to support a modern digitally enabled campus environment.
Key responsibilities
- Campus Management
- Lead digital transformation and smart campus initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and user experience.
- Ensure all teaching spaces computer labs and meeting rooms are fully functional through proactive monitoring and lifecycle management focusing on PC performance and AV stability (projectors displays audio).
- Oversee IT daily help desk operations acting as a point of escalation for complex technical issues.
- Budget Execution & Control
- Support the development of theannual IT operating and capital expenditure (OPEX/CAPEX) budget by consolidating inputs from infrastructure applications security and service operations.
- Prepare regularfinancial reports and dashboards for senior management highlighting trends risks and cost drivers.
- Ensure IT expenditures are aligned withbusiness priorities strategic initiatives and corporate financial policies.
- Asset and Contract Lifecycle Management
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory of all IT assets including hardware software cloud subscriptions and licenses.
- Monitor software license usage and compliance ensuring the organization remains audit-ready at all times.
- Track warranty periods maintenance agreements support contracts and subscription expirations to ensure timely renewals and avoid service disruptions.
- Implement and continuously improve asset management processes and tools to increase visibility control and operational efficiency.
Required skills and experience
- 7 years in IT operations and management services with 2 years in an IT management or service management role.
- Strong expertise in:
- Troubleshooting of Windows/macOS and mobile platforms.
- AV control systems and video conferencing hardware.
- ITSM operations and runbooks for incident management.
- Proven experience managing IT budgets vendors procurement and asset lifecycle in a medium to large enterprise environment.
- Proven ability to manage hardware software license and subscription inventories.
- Experience in contract review renewal planning and commercial negotiation with vendors.
- Excellent communication documentation and vendor management skills.
- Language: fluent Cantonese and English preferred.
Education and certifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Certifications preferred: Microsoft and ITIL;
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test.
This is a continuous based position. The initial appointment will be offered on a one-year fixed term contract. Re-appointment thereafter is subject to mutual agreement availability of funding and satisfactory performance.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
