Lawson Lundell LLP is seeking a Business Development & Marketing (BDM) Coordinator to join our Calgary office. Working with the Director of Business Development the BDM Coordinator is primarily responsible for executing the business development and marketing initiatives of the Calgary and Yellowknife offices. This role will play a support role on key projects and initiatives with both short and long-term goals aligned with the firms strategic priorities.
Essential Job Functions:
- Work with practice and industry groups to execute business plan initiatives throughout the year.
- Work with the Director of Business Development to develop strategies and identify opportunities to promote the Firm increasing its visibility and positioning in the market.
- Assist in identifying targets and provide relevant research and strategic ideas to acquire new business.
- Work with the broader BDM team to develop organize coordinate and execute seminars receptions and special events taking place in the local market. Responsible for creating and managing critical dates and timelines concerning local events and sponsorships. Draft and manage all internal and external communications for programs.
- Evaluate key sponsorships and networking opportunities with professional organizations and associations in the local market. Coordinate all deliverables associated with office or practice-identified key sponsorships. Leverage the Firms involvement to strengthen client relationships and create client and lawyer connections across the organizations.
- Support firm and office initiatives ranging from related client outreach to office business development plans.
- Assist lawyers/groups with their efforts to introduce and develop relationships with existing firm clients prospective clients and industry associations.
- Competitive Intelligence
- Assist with directory and award submissions as needed.
- Administrative tasks such as invoicing managing expense reporting booking boardrooms and general administrative support to the Director of Business Development.
- Other duties as assigned.
Specific Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Marketing Business or a related discipline an asset
- Proven working experience (2-5 years) in a professional services marketing environment with strong preference given to candidates with law firm experience
- Demonstrated ability in creating and implementing business development strategies
- High-level communication and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated ability to support stakeholders within and outside the Firm
- Ability to work well independently and in a team-oriented environment
- Ability to handle multiple projects and complex tasks simultaneously
- Demonstrated project management and time management skills
- Detail-oriented event management skills
- Client-centric approach

- Business hours are 8:30am-4:30pm Monday-Friday with the option to work from home 1 day/week coordinated through your manager.
