Job Summary
Overview
TheGrievance Coordinatoris a Registered Nurse position the will utilize clincal objective and subjective assessment skills to respond to and resolve inmate grievances within the correctional facility.
In collaboration wih the Health Services Administrator (HSA) the Assistant Health Services Administrator (AHSA) and or the Director of Nursing (DON) the Grievance Coordinator will manage the formal process for inmates to report complaints regarding facility conditions staff conduct or medical and mental health treament ensuring they are investgated and resolved according to legal standards.
Pay rates vary based on shift site needs and experience and range from $39.97 to $42.08. Shift and hours vary based on coverage needs and can be discussed upon interview.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the full grievance process (informal through formal) ensuring timely fair resolution and compliance with legal regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Review and investigate complaints gather information coordinate with staff and leadership and facilitate effective resolutions.
- Maintain accurate grievance logs track deadlines analyze trends and prepare reports to support compliance and process improvement.
- Serve as a key liaison between incarcerated individuals staff and administrationproviding guidance on the grievance process and ensuring clear effective communication.
- Support clinical and operational excellence by conducting rounds identifying training needs collaborating with healthcare leadership and ensuring adherence to policies procedures and system standards (including TechCare).
Qualifications
- Holds a current unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse within the state of Michigan
- A minimum of 3-5 years of progressive and vast clinical experience in a healthcare setting and knowledge of mnental health needs
- 1 year in correctional healthcare preferred
- Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
- Must have comprehensive understanding of correctional practices policies and procedures
- In depth knowledge of innate grievance process and related regulations
- Familiarity with investigation and conflict resolution techniques
- Ability to analyze and interpret information and recommend appropriate action
- Ability to interview and assist inmates
- Ability to maintain required documentation records and reports
- Aptitude for maintain confidentiality and handling of sensitive informaiton
- Ability to use a rational approach to resolving complaints
- Must pass the facilitys criminal background check and drug screening
Physical Capabilities:
Must have the ability to stand for long periods lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds) bend squat reach push pull walk significant distances and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
