Performs experienced work supporting the development implementation and evaluation of all aspects of the librarys communications media and community relations and marketing.

Responsibilities:

Assists in the implementation and evaluation of the librarys communication plan; updates and maintains the librarys digital communication tools including the website newsletters and social media sites by creating content monitoring engagement and responding in alignment with established brand voice and communication standards.
Assists in proofreading researching compiling analyzing tracking and maintaining information for reports statistics inventories and special projects.
Composes and prepares written materials; drafts edits and formats presentations and reports; compiles and prepares statistical and narrative reports from a variety of sources.
Edits and coordinates production and distribution of promotional materials including regularly scheduled digital and print publications; provides photographic support for library events and activities; assists in the preparation of print digital and graphic materials for the
Friends of Williamsburg Regional Library Foundation; assists in preparation of graphic materials using appropriate graphics tools including assisting with developing templates and training staff.
Collaborates with library administrators division directors managers officers and other staff to support project needs; participates on library-wide committees as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelors degree in journalism communications public relations or a closely related field and some work experience in writing and editing publications marketing media relations or communications; some experience providing training preferred.
Must possess reliable transportation to work site(s).
Knowledge of marketing principles public relations and media relations as part of an integrated marketing campaign; principles and processes for providing customer service including setting and meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer
satisfaction.
Knowledge of social media platforms trends and audience engagement strategies; proficiency with social media management tools.
Skill in written and verbal communication including accurate copyediting and proofreading; use of computer software especially Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience; establish and maintain effective working relationship with staff members the public media and vendors; appropriately handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality; engage with staff across all library divisions and with the librarys strategic goals and directions; work collaboratively as part of library teams on a variety of projects.
