  • Leads HIV/STI surveillance activities including case reporting data collection data validation case management and de-duplication by providing mentorship training and performance oversight to ensure data accuracy timeliness and compliance with surveillance standards.
  • Conducts and oversees statistical and epidemiologic analyses to identify trends disparities and emerging patterns while developing routine and ad-hoc reports dashboards and epidemiologic profiles for stakeholders.
  • Ensures data meets CDC and state reporting standards for completeness accuracy and timeliness. Implements data quality assurance and improvement processes.
  • Collaborates with program managers disease intervention specialists and public health leadership to translate surveillance findings into actionable insights for prevention care and program evaluation.
  • Fosters a culture of data-informed decision-making by developing and delivering training on surveillance methods data interpretation and analytic tools to staff across the HIV/STI Prevention Program.
  • Conducts literature reviews and stays current on public health trends to identify and implement best practices in surveillance and analytic methodologies.
  • Responds to data requests from all stakeholders and prepares and delivers data presentations to local state and national partners.
  • Maintains strict adherence to confidentiality and data security policies ensuring compliance with HIPAA CDC and state surveillance requirements.
  • Participates in emergency preparedness and response activities as directed by county leadership during a declared public health emergency or disaster.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Masters Degree in Public Health Epidemiology Biostatistics Health Informatics Health Policy or a related field.
  • At least five (5) years of combined experience in public health surveillance epidemiologic analysis and health data management with a focus on HIV/STI surveillance preferred.
  • Experience in a supervisory or team leadership role preferred.
  • Experience using data languages/tools such as R Python SQL or similar analytic platforms in a health or public health setting preferred.
  • Experience working with surveillance systems such as eHARS NBS Maven/THISIS or other disease surveillance platforms preferred.
  • Proven proficiency with both oral and written communication skills.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to complete multiple tasks a must.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively with the public other employees and elected officials.

STARTING SALARY RANGE: $36.13 - $45.16 hourly based on qualifications

CLOSING DATE: Upon filling position
