Your Impact
We are seeking an Itinerant Teacher of the Deaf to join our Outreach this role you will partner with families districts and educational teams to support deaf and hard-of hearing (DHH) students academic communication and social-emotional development across diverse educational environments. You will provide direct instruction consultation training and assessments aligned with IEPs and 504 plans. Grounded in current research Deaf culture and a commitment to family-centered accessible education this position offers a meaningful opportunity to support equity and inclusive learning opportunities for all students.
This position offers schedule flexibility and may be structured as full-time or part-time. It is a 10-month role aligned with the school calendar.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct and consultative services as outlined in students IEPs or 504 plans
- Collaborate with educational teams families and related service providers to ensure access communication and social-emotional support
- Support the use of hearing assistive technology and promote self-advocacy skills in students
- Participate in IEP/504 processes by contributing to accommodations goals and service recommendations
- Travel to school districts and home settings throughout the region to deliver services
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelors degree in Deaf Education Special Education Communication Disorders or Early Childhood Education (Masters preferred)
- Massachusetts DESE license as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing or ability to obtain within two years
- Experience in Deaf Education or Special Education (preferred)
- Knowledge of Deaf education and Deaf culture with the ability to share resources with students families and teams
- Fluency in American Sign Language or willingness to learn
- Excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication skills
- Flexibility to adjust schedule based on student and district needs
- Valid drivers license and ability to travel within the region

Work Environment & Physical Demands
This 10-month position requires regional travel. Work may involve moderate physical activity student support and exposure to varied learning environments. Candidates must be able to assist students weighing 40 lbs. or more and may be required to operate a school vehicle. Participation in emergency preparedness drills is required. CCCBSD provides reasonable accommodations to ensure accessibility and success in the role.

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of all required background checks including Massachusetts CORI and SAFIS fingerprinting in accordance with state regulations.
