The role Te Mahi
We are seeking three Graduate Engineers Network Services to join our Network and Telecommunications Services team within IT Infrastructure.
These roles are an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or earlycareer professional to develop handson technical and professional skills in a large complex enterprise environment. Working under supervision within defined architecture and operational frameworks you will support implement and maintain network and telecommunications infrastructure that underpins teaching research and administrative services across the University.
You will gain exposure to system monitoring incident response troubleshooting and infrastructure support while progressively building technical capability professional confidence and strong stakeholder engagement skills.
A clientfocused approach to service delivery is essential along with a genuine interest in learning and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
Assisting with the operational configuration maintenance and support of network components
Supporting investigation and resolution of network infrastructure and securityrelated incidents
Carrying out routine IT infrastructure operational tasks and contributing to maintenance activities
Monitoring systems and reporting on performance to support service continuity
Installing and removing system components using documented procedures and tools
Following agreed incident management and service support processes
Maintaining accurate documentation of technical work incidents and outcomes
Working collaboratively with internal teams vendors and service providers

You will be a motivated graduate with a strong interest in network infrastructure and enterprise IT environments who enjoys problemsolving learning new technologies and working as part of a collaborative team.
You will have:
A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent body of knowledge appropriate to the role
Foundational knowledge of network and telecommunications concepts
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
A demonstrated commitment to customer service and continuous learning
The ability to follow documented processes standards and security requirements
Ideally you will also bring:
Exposure to enterprise networking technologies (e.g. switching routing wireless firewalls)
Familiarity with network monitoring or troubleshooting tools
Awareness of IT service management frameworks (e.g. ITIL)
Progress toward or interest in industry certifications such as CCNA CCNP or Arista ACE certifications

These are full-time (37.5 hours week) fixed term positions (30 April 2026 until 31 December 2027) located in Ōtepoti Dunedin.
The appointment range for this role is $64481 to $69759 Top of Range $73712.
