About the Position of Interim Associate Dean of the College of Science and Mathematics
The Interim Associate Dean assists the Dean in carrying out the mission and achieving the vision of the College and serves as Acting Dean during the Deans absence. Under the Deans general direction theInterim Associate Dean works collaboratively with department chairs faculty and staff across the University to support the Colleges goals. Responsibilities include providing leadership in curriculum development and delivery; assisting departments and programs with curricular changes program reviews and assessment; and facilitating the approval process for curriculum proposals through all University levels of approval. The Interim Associate Dean plays a key role in strategic planning and decision making contributes to college advancement and resource planning and maintains databases and reports related to student success assessment and accreditation. The Interim Associate Dean interprets and enforces academic policies manages special programs and initiatives oversees student outreach and recruitment and supports research initiatives. Additionally the Interim Associate Dean acts on petitions and program change requests from students meets with students concerning academic or disciplinary problems serves as coordinator of student grievance grade appeal and other disciplinary processes; and coordinates college events including Commencement and award ceremonies. The Interim Associate Dean represents the Dean and the College at internal and external events serves on University-level committees such as Educational Policies Committee and Graduate Studies Committee and acts as Executive Secretary to the College Academic Council as well as ex-officio member of the College Administrative Council; performs other duties as assigned.

- Earned doctorate from an accredited institution with eligibility for appointment at the rank of Professor in an academic discipline within the physical sciences life sciences or mathematics
- Demonstrated excellence in university-level teaching
- Demonstrated record of outstanding scholarly creative and/or professional accomplishment
- At least three years of successful administrative experience at or above the level of Department Chair (or equivalent)
- Experience with grants contracts and/or sponsored projects
Preferred qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple responsibilities and solve organizational problems
- Demonstrated ability to lead academic administrative teams and committees with a collaborative leadership style
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with faculty staff and administrators
- Demonstrated ability in student advisement and mentoring
- Demonstrated ability to deal discreetly and effectively with sensitive student faculty and staff issues
- Demonstrated ability to provide effective leadership in responding to and enriching the increasing diversity and profile of the university
- Strong cultural awareness and demonstrated commitment to equity diversity inclusion belonging and accessibility
- Excellent public relations communication and writing skills
Pay Benefits & Work Schedule
- Salary is commensurate with knowledge skills and experience. The University offers excellent fringe benefits.
- The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $176000 to $194292 per year dependent upon qualifications and experience.
