| Department Description: | The Architecture Program is part of the Department of Art Architecture and Art History housed within the College of Arts and Sciences. Our design studios emphasize critical thinking and the development of the architectural imagination informed by an expansive curriculum in the history and theory of architecture. The program is also organically tied to the Visual Arts and Art History majors that form the department. The department fosters a very active undergraduate research program that especially engages first generation and underrepresented students. The College of Arts and Sciences is at the heart of the University of San Diego. Our philosophy is built on the enduring values of the Catholic intellectual tradition immersing students in the concepts of free inquiry ethical conduct and compassionate service. | Detailed Description: | The Department of Art Architecture and Art History at the University of San Diego invites applicants for a Teaching Professor position to commence in Fall 2026. The successful candidate may be scheduled to teach architectural introduction studios lower and upper division history/theory seminars and/or senior capstone seminars. This position is included in the Non-tenure Track Bargaining Unit and the successful applicant employee subject to the terms of the Colleges Collective Bargaining will be a bargaining unit member and will be subject to the Universitys Agreement with SEIU Local 721. Background check: Successful completion of a pre-employment background check. Degree Verification Requirement: Persons offered employment in this position will be required to provide official education transcripts for degree verification purposes. |
| Job Requirements: | Minimum Qualifications: with a Masters Degree ( MS MA or equivalent) and 3 years of experience teaching architectural design. Expected markers of excellence in design and design pedagogy include national and international awards publications exhibitions student work portfolios and samples of original design studio briefs. Preferred Qualifications: or other relevant terminal degree with additional years of teaching experience beyond the minimum. Evidence of teaching effectiveness or innovation in design pedagogy. |
| Posting Salary: | $6346 - $6537/Monthly Excellent Benefits This appointment is a 25-unit full-time benefits-eligible non-tenure-track position at the rank of Teaching Professor with a monthly salary range of $6346-$6537 with the final salary determined by whether the candidate holds a non-terminal or terminal degree. Candidates with significant college-level teaching experience may negotiate for appointment at the Senior or Distinguished Teaching Professor rank.
