The Hospitals history is integral to the history of medicine in Central Alabama. Its origins date back to 1894 when Watkins Infirmary received its first patients at the Hospitals present September 1946 five physicians including the Hospitals namesake Dr. Benjamin Franklin Jackson opened Jackson Hospital with 37 patient beds. Today the Hospital is licensed for 344 beds. Services include cardiac cancer neurosciences orthopedics and womens and childrens care along with 24-hour emergency services. It ranks among the largest hospitals in Alabama and is recognized for providing excellence in care.
Position Summary and Reporting Relationship
Reporting to and working closely with the President and CEO of Jackson Hospital the President is responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising program to support the Hospitals mission and strategic goals. This position will generate philanthropic support and advance strategic projects that are a priority. While accountable to the Foundation Board of Directors and reporting to the Jackson Hospital President and CEO the President also works closely with the Hospitals executive and senior team members physicians nurses and other Hospital leadership to develop fundraising priorities and achieve fundraising goals. This position provides leadership and direction to the Foundation staff. The President is responsible for maintaining strong external relationships with community and business leaders as well as cultivating and stewarding Jackson Hospitals most prominent donors.
Primary Responsibilities
- Partner with the Foundation Board to achieve philanthropic goals.
- Work closely with the President and CEO of Jackson Hospital and other Hospital administration.
- Implement a fundraising plan that includes annual giving capital gifts events grants endowment support specialized campaigns and planned giving from individuals corporations and foundations.
- Lead the process that obtains input from management senior leadership and the boards to identify and recommend priorities for potential philanthropic projects that will yield the highest impact for Jackson Hospital.
- Plan and direct capital campaigns and other major fundraising drives.
- Direct the major gifts program including identification cultivation and solicitation of major donors.
- Implement all targeted giving campaigns including employee and physician giving.
- Direct the planned giving program with a focus on building long-term relationships with major donors.
- Direct corporate foundation and grant programs including developing proposals tracking and compliance report writing and acknowledgement.
- Oversee Foundation events.
- Oversee Foundation Staff.
- Coordinate Foundation Board and committee meetings.
- Serve as the primary spokesperson for philanthropic matters related to Jackson Hospital within the community.
- Engage in other community organizations that will benefit the community profile of Jackson Hospital.
- Understand and use social media to reach younger prospects in the area.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree minimum.
- Five or more years of demonstrated success in a senior-level fundraising position.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build confidence and rapport among stakeholders colleagues and volunteers.
- Experience developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising plan.
- Successful capital campaign experience preferred.
- Strong experience with major gift programs including identification cultivation and solicitation of six and seven-figure gifts.
- Leadership skills to partner with and motivate board members and other volunteers.
- Ability to build strong collaborative teams and actively engage with staff.
- Community involvement.
- Skilled at working with all levels of healthcare professionals including administrators physicians nurses and other healthcare personnel.
- Strong and effective presentation oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge/experience with Raisers Edge preferred.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $140000 - $150000 commensurate with experience.
