AWS Software Engineer (GenAI OCR & Intelligent Document Processing)

Duration: 12 Months Contract
Location: Sandton JHB

Work Model: Hybrid (3 days a week)

Role Overview

• We are seeking a handson AWS Software Engineer to design build integrate and operate GenAI services within an OCR and Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) platform.
• This role is responsible for developing LLMdriven services that integrate with an existing OCR ecosystem as well as providing run and operational support for the platform including industryleading OCR solutions such as Tungsten Automation.
• The role blends software engineering cloud engineering and production operations with a strong focus on scalable secure enterprisegrade solutions operating in regulated environments.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Operations & Support

• Own the run and operational support of the OCR / IDP platform
• Provide production support including incident management root cause analysis and performance optimisation
• Manage platform upgrades configuration and integrations
• Define and maintain runbooks operational processes and technical documentation
• Partner with infrastructure security and platform teams to ensure stability resilience and availability

GenAI & OCR Platform Development

• Design and build GenAIpowered services and APIs integrated with OCR / IDP platforms
• Develop LLMbased capabilities for document extraction classification validation summarisation and decisioning
• Integrate GenAI services into existing OCR workflows and downstream systems
• Build secure scalable productionready solutions aligned to enterprise architectural standards
• Support and enhance existing OCR platforms including Tungsten Automation or equivalent technologies

AWS Engineering & DevOps

• Design build and deploy services in an AWSnative environment

Work with AWS services including:

• EC2 ECS / EKS
• Lambda Step Functions
• S3 IAM
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and infrastructureascode (IaC)
• Ensure solutions meet security resilience availability and compliance requirements

Required Experience & Skills

Core Experience

• 5 years of strong software engineering experience
• 5 years building and operating systems on AWS
• 5 years working with APIbased architectures and service integrations
• 3 years supporting enterprisegrade production systems

Platform & Automation Experience

• 3 years experience with OCR / IDP platforms (vendor or custom)
• 3 years experience in RPA or OCR platform development
• Handson experience with Tungsten Automation or similar OCR platforms

GenAI & LLM Experience

• Experience designing and deploying LLMbased or GenAI systems in production environments
• Familiarity with GenAI patterns for document processing and decision automation

Cloud & DevOps

• 3 years experience in AWS engineering DevOps and infrastructureascode
• Strong understanding of security controls identity management and cloud governance.
• Experience operating systems in regulated enterprise environments.

Nice to Have

• Experience integrating GenAI with legacy enterprise platforms.
• Exposure to financial services insurance or other highly regulated domains.
• Strong operational mindset with a bias toward reliability and automation.
