Position Overview
Youre an analytical thinker who knows how to interpret and leverage data insights to make improvements across the business. With a deep understanding of compliance legislation and regulations combined with your eye for detail you know what it takes to ensure our programs and processes are aligned with our requirements.
Reporting to the Manager Corporate Compliance youll support the implementation and coordination of our Corporate Compliance Program. Your role as the Compliance Specialist is key to instilling high ethical standards throughout our Company.
In this role you will:
- Support the Corporate Compliance Program with ongoing monitoring and analysis of requirements processes and procedures to ensure Company-wide compliance while assisting with the implementation of recommendations on process improvements.
- Act as a subject matter expert for the Document Management System while maintaining the platform and its processes and ensuring the Companys compliance with policies by using the system for policy reviews updates and reports.
- Assist in providing guidance to the business on developing and documenting compliance policies procedures and processes.
- Participate in monitoring and reporting on developments impacting the Companys ethics and compliance efforts to ensure were aware of and responsive to changing environments.
- Deliver presentations and training materials to provide ethics and compliance-related education across the Company. Analyze activities and trends to identify employee training and education needs.
- Assist with risk assessment initiatives to identify compliance risk areas and provide compliance-related support to the Internal Audit and Risk team as needed.
What it takes:
- A bachelors degree in business finance or a related field and a minimum of three years of recent and related experience is required. An equivalent combination of education training and experience may be considered.
- Previous experience in a utility or regulated environment is preferred.
- Experienced in project management compliance and regulatory document management technical writing and delivering presentations.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships at all levels within the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions independently supported by research and analysis of data.
- An understanding of relevant compliance legislation and regulations and knowledge of identifying and developing internal risk controls.
- Proven ability to use discretion and sound judgment in handling confidential information with a high degree of professionalism integrity and objectivity.
In this role you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week) subject to business or operational needs.
