Job Title: Litigation Paralegal (Insurance Defense)

Overview

A well-established Tampa law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal with a background in insurance defense ideally within medical malpractice and healthcare litigation. This role supports attorneys in a fast-paced environment handling complex matters from discovery through trial.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage case files and support attorneys across all phases of litigation
• Obtain review and manage client documents including electronic data
• Conduct litigation civil and background research as needed
• Prepare and organize documents for production (Bates labeling redactions)
• Assist with trial preparation including exhibits subpoenas and witness coordination
• Summarize medical records bills and prepare medical chronologies
• Coordinate with expert witnesses (retention communication and documentation)
• Communicate with clients carriers opposing counsel and vendors
• Review and process vendor invoices for accuracy and submission
• Perform legal research using online and firm resources

Qualifications

• 5 years of litigation paralegal experience
• Insurance defense experience required
• Medical malpractice or healthcare litigation experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of litigation procedures and document production
• Experience with trial preparation and managing deadlines
• Excellent organizational communication and multitasking skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Education & Credentials

• Bachelors Degree and/or Paralegal Certificate (ABA-approved preferred)
• Florida Registered Paralegal (preferred)
