The Role
We are looking for a Founding Recruiter based in New York City to own full-cycle hiring across engineering product operations and business functions. You will manage 5-8 concurrent searches source from elite organizations and close exceptional candidates.
This role is for someone who treats recruiting as a discipline not a process. Someone who builds systems uses data to diagnose pipeline problems and pushes back when the bar is at risk. You will spend the majority of your time on direct recruiting activities that lead to hires not on coordination or admin.
Location: Hybrid 3 days per week in the NYC office.
What You Will Do
- Own end-to-end recruiting across technical and non-technical functions simultaneously
- Source and close candidates from high-bar organizations
- Manage 5-8 concurrent searches without compromising quality
- Build recruiting infrastructure (playbooks process improvements funnel analysis) that compounds over time
- Coach hiring managers to become active recruiting partners
- Use pipeline data to identify bottlenecks and run experiments that improve conversion
- Defend quality standards under pressure including pushing back on senior stakeholders when needed
What You Bring to the Table
- 5 years of full-cycle recruiting experience with at least 3 years in-house at a startup (not agency not RPO)
- Genuine 0-to-1 experience: joined a company early and built or significantly shaped the recruiting function
- Proven track record hiring across both technical (engineering data product) and non-technical (GTM G&A operations) functions - tech-only backgrounds are not a fit
- Experience sourcing and closing candidates from elite organizations with high hiring bars
- Evidence of hiring 20 people during a company growth phase without lowering standards
- Comfortable with funnel metrics conversion rates and using data to drive decisions
- Startup experience must be at a recognizable company with a meaningful tenure
