Exercise Physiologist

Your role at St John of God Frankston Hospital

We are seeking an enthusiastic Grade 1 Exercise Physiologist (Casual) to join our Outpatient team. Casual shifts with varying hours are available to support periods of leave cover.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver highquality evidencebased clinical exercise physiology services in line with ESSA standards and SJGHC policies and guidelines.

This role is based in our Outpatient service supporting patients across a range of specialities including Neurology Orthopaedics Chronic Disease Management Reconditioning and Pain Management. You will play a key role in providing safe effective and patientcentred exercise interventions to support recovery and longterm health outcomes.

The Position

• Demonstrated ability to prescribe deliver and supervise individual and group remedial and maintenance exercise programs for patients attending the service including but not limited to gym and/or hydrotherapy.

• Contributes to the delivery of high quality compassionate safe clinical services within a range of settings i.e. Inpatient Outpatient or home/community based settings.

• Responsible for completing appropriate administrative duties arising from each session instructed. This requires liaison with the office administration team reporting of statistical data and completion of clinical documentation.

• Develop appropriate treatment goals and plans for all patients/clients in collaboration with other team members.

• Active participation in the multidisciplinary team.

• Referrals to external agencies are initiated in a timely manner.

• Uses an evidence-based problem solving approach to clinical care and service development.

• Demonstrates consolidated current knowledge of research evidence based practice in Exercise Physiology and related clinical areas.

• As relevant supervises and supports Allied Health Assistants and students to deliver effective services.

You will have tertiary qualification in Exercise Physiology Sports Science or similar. Eligible for accreditation with the Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA) and you will be eligible for Medicare Provider number.

To succeed you will have experience in assessment exercise prescription monitoring and progressions for special population using evidence-based practices in therapy (e.g. Musculoskeletal neurological cardiac and metabolic conditions) and you will hold current drivers licence.

• Casual rate: $44.68 to $61.78 per hour (inclusive of casual loading)plus 12% superannuation
