Working along side the Human Resources Manager youll be part of a collaborative people-first team that supports staff across AARCS. This isnt a sit back and watch kind of job youll be hands-on helping with everything from welcoming new hires to supporting employee programs and keeping things running smoothly day-to-day.
Youll gain experience across the full employee journey from recruitment and onboarding to engagement and offboarding while also learning about things like workplace policies payroll support benefits and health & safety. If youre organized people-oriented and curious about how teams thrive youll fit right in.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Be between the ages of 15 and 30 years old.
Genuine interest in animal welfare and shelter medicine.
Strong computer skills with proficiency with Google platform Apps and Docs.
Entrusted with maintaining confidential and sensitive employee data and information.
Ability to take initiative prioritize and organize multiple tasks effectively and see them through to timely completion with strong administrative skills.
Highly developed confidentiality cooperation collaboration and problem-solving skills.
A proactive and positive attitude and work ethic with a sharp mind and kind heart.
Functional understanding of Alberta Employment Standards PIPA and OHS legislation.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Employee communications data collection document handling and processing.
Recruit screen schedule and confirm interviews with shortlisted candidates.
Support a seamless onboarding/offboarding process.
Support employee engagement initiatives and implementation of new technologies.
Collect information for Payroll services.
Ensure OH&S requirements have been met.
Assist with the creation or updates of employee policies handbooks and SOPs.
Assist with employee benefits administration.
Prepare employment verification letters as requested source training opportunities support with team building activities and other culture building practices.
Prepare HR related reports as requested.
Other tasks as assigned.
Education/Training:
Post-secondary (or interest in perusing) education in HR Administration and/or Business is considered an asset
Previous work experience in same or similar role is considered an asset
Previous experience in animal welfare/shelter environmentis considered an asset
Working Conditions:
Office environment within a busy animal shelter with a moderate to loud noise level.
May involve exposure to dangerous or diseased animals.
Ability to sit/type for extended periods of time.

Term: 16 weeks
Shifts:Monday through Friday 8:30 AM- 4:30 PM
Start Date: Immediately

Benefits:
Salary Range:$18.00-$21.00 per hour based on experience and qualifications
